I've just broken mine again ... both of them ... so that is 5 in total so far. Do I hold the record I wonder?? Have you found out what happens with these double screw versions if you forget to release the Tenax fasteners prior to working the roof mechanism? Hopefully they will take the strain but I'm wondering if they will rip out of the bodywork causing even more damage than the originals or, equally as bad, rip the hood fabric? In any case, you are a very unlucky person

Just don't do them up with the hood down.

A marine grade fastner are much better quality available in most chandlers, some with different size screw heads lf you replace in the same hole. jf fitted correctly the double screw version that Sospan replaced are the best and will snap before the screws rip out a much better job longterm. Boat manufacturers keep fitting the singles when new even on a multi million pound boat but inevitably at some their all replaced by the doubles. Em

There are two types, the twin screw peg stud or the shouldered ones.

My single fittings broke due to an error in lifting the rear of the hood without releasing them first.A daft mistake. Since then I got into a routine..... Release both studs. Pop the hood rear. Do what I needed then reverse the routine. Refit the hood rear. Replace the stud fastenings. As for ripping out the two screw version, you'd need to use a fair bit of force. The screws I used were stainless so stronger than the brass original studs. I think 13mm long and a pilot hole drilled before fitting. There are twice the number so loads shared a bit more than the originals. I added gaskets as well, made from clear packaging cut to size. Hopefully to prevent the edges digging into the paint. Might replace with thin rubber though THE secret is the sequence. Studs first/ last.

If I store the Mog with hood up over winter (to prevent shrinkage) I leave the Tenax unfastened, just in case I want something off the parcel shelf and 'forget'

I’ve known the sequence right from the start but the difficulty of course is remembering it when it isn’t yet muscle-memory, particularly when you are in a rush for some reason beyond your control!
