Thanks for the tip Richard. This is exactly the same with the CX... when opening the top first the push button and then open the top and when closing exactly the other way around. Otherwise the nipple tears off because of too much tension

I’ve had my car just three weeks and have managed to break three of these fittings … how long before the correct roof opening / closing sequence becomes a muscle memory I wonder?!? LOL

One week ago I returned from a short stay in Malvern with my eldest son. Unpacking the PlusFour at home I found the Tenax at the offside loose and the nipple broken, just 2 or 3 mm inside the car. I always loosen the Tenax before opening the roof and even before opening the rear for package. I was driving alone from Hoek van Holland because I dropped my son at Stansted the evening before as he lives and works in Goteborg. So why?? I don't know. The dealer fixed it with some other things that were already planned to do, just 10 km before I did arrive at the dealers place, my middle wiper blade became loose of the window but fortunately wasn't completely loose. They fixed that too! On inspection the nipple seemed brass to me, certainly not stainless steel. Everything was sorted out, the Tenax problem was well known by the dealer. I hope it is SS now, they send me a picture of the new nipple mounted and one with the roof down. Did not has the time to collect the PlusFour, used the old 4/4 instead, luckily I had to display my 4/4 on our MSCCH stand for 3 days at Wheels at Marienwaerdt (former Wheels at the Palace), which was a success too! Next week I collect the PlusFour and put the 4/4 in its garage. Driving the 4/4 for more than 500 km the past week was nice, but now I am aware why we bought the PlusFour last year. The difference in comfort is huge, and the character of the 4/4 is huge too!

I've replaced both on my car with a different version. One broke and rather than drill the broken bit out I got ones with two screw holes . Located exactly over the originals. Holes drilled, thin, clear gasket cut to shape and stainless screws.
Get into the habit of releasing before roof lift and replacing as the last action. Basically first and last actions.
I also lightly grease the mechanism on the rear catches to help
I think I got the new bits from Woolies.

I don't have any problems at the moment, but if the nipple breaks again I will be happy to come back to your solution.
What kind of screw did you use? In my opinion, it must be a wood screw at this point. What length of screw did you use?
I also googled the nipple on Woolies Website. I think it's part number 41.

I'll check the screws for size. They are wood screws.

I've just broken mine again ... both of them ... so that is 5 in total so far. Do I hold the record I wonder??

Have you found out what happens with these double screw versions if you forget to release the Tenax fasteners prior to working the roof mechanism?

Hopefully they will take the strain but I'm wondering if they will rip out of the bodywork causing even more damage than the originals or, equally as bad, rip the hood fabric?

Prior to our first purchase, we hired a Morgan for the weekend. It had been well used probably by drivers inexperienced with Morgans and noticeably, the hood was badly ripped in the vicinity of the tenax fasteners.
So no real substitute for doing things in the right order.
Maybe best to keep it down and dress up warm?
And yes….think you must be holding the record!,
