"Pure man logic" - now here's a thought. I wonder how many of the 850 or so orders have been placed by ladies?

Judging by my wife's reaction, I would think not many women see the point of it. I have been told it looks like a "nasty giant insect" and is as ugly as sin..............

Perhaps you should consider working in defence procurement, as I understand that's the basis on which the Ministry of Defence buys all it's equipment.

A large portion of the women that I work with and those that I know think that my miata is a very attractive car and that the Morgan is downright ugly. I would say almost all of them feel this way, sort of shocking as I feel my miata is an alright looking car and the Morgan is amazing!

Unfortunately, Defence Procurememt knows what it wants and when for, but then gets told by the Treasury they'll have to wait a few years. By then the kit is obsolete and they have to start again...

Can everybody just hold off ordering anymore M3W's until after Australia gets approval for the vehicle so us downunder can join the bloody queue for one before it reaches a million. Come on you gave us the convicts why can't you give us the M3W?

Are you able to do a personal import into Oz? In the UK there are ways of registering either kit cars or personal imports which involve getting it tested individually to ensure it complies with the regs. Check out the UKs SVA test. If possible you will be able to jump the queue and have a totally unique vehicle.

Doing a personal import into Australia of a non classic vehicle is a nightmare and very expensive. Much better to leave it for the official importer to sort it all out.

Nobody seems to have thought it a good idea to have international design rules (at least this has been done for Europe) and the Austalian Design Rules have their little differences which will require expensive engineers certificates.

Click Importing Vehicles to Australia for the official brochure.

Note that you must have a permit before the vehicle is shipped.

Peter that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I had an absolutely brilliant young Aussie worked as a barman for me for a year about 12 years ago. He has since taken the family business over from his pa - Coastline BMW - the concession for the sunshine coast. On the occasions I've caught up with him over the years since I've found it fascinating and perhaps even reassuring to hear him talk about his business. It seems that contrary to the stereotypical british view about laid back easy going aussie way of life, the australian administration is incredibly arsy, and running a business down under is every bit as blighted by red tape & buggeration factor, & in some cases even more than it is over here in europe.
