Has sadly passed away today. I always enjoyed his afternoon drive time programme on Radio 2 when on my way home. His humour and interaction with "Sally Traffic" were always worth listening to. His wife Tiggy reckons there'll be a big New Year party going on with all those departed musicians &c. whose music he loved.

Always a quiet couple of days for us as Heathers brother passed away in Benin when he was39, the first we knew was a telephone call from the Dutch Consulate out there whom they were staying with at 0300 our time New Years day 30 years ago. RIP Jim.
At the time our 3 youngsters were still at home so the next morning I went over to his Mum's to break the news - one of the worst tasks ever.
Live every day don't cruise.

Indeed RIP Johnnie Walker. I also listened on Caroline in the 60s. There are very few left that are anywhere near as good.
I was with my girl friend's parents on NYE 42 yrs ago. Her father had a coronary that morning, died on the floor in front of me despite CPR.

Johnnie Walker kept me sane when I was driving far too many miles. If I could be in the car when he started at 5pm and home before he concluded at 7pm, it was a good day.
And the banter with Sally Traffic was awesome.
One of the last true remaining true DJ’s.

Liked to listen to JW on Sunday afternoons whilst tinkering in the garage, some months ago I worked out how to 'tape' R2 on the tv satbox thing, so we're gradually listening to a sort of catch-up indoors
