I have seen many advertisements on the social media about the new "miracle" laser welders that can also remove rust as well as weld easily.
Whilst I can MIG, TIG and gas weld well, I am intrigued by the rust removal process.
Have any of you enthusiasts had any experience with any of these Laser type machines, if so I would be greatful for any comments.
Happy Miles.
Bryan.

Have seen those ads too ... pal of mine has a proper pro laser welder and it is an amazing thing ... however it takes skill to use, is really dangerous if not used properly and very expensive .... the one's on social media strike me as too good to be true.

Can't remember where I saw it but a report on those Chinese welders that look so good said they were rubbish and what arrived had none of the ability of the item shown working, they were still trying to get their money back, evidently when you try and purchase it through Ebay it transfers you to a different site and you pay by card! I fear Image is right and too good to be true sums it up! Just google search it and keep sifting through the adds that take you to there site until you find a review site, you'll see what I mean!

Kiwi, In conclusion I think on a site like Morgan or an equivalent Land Rover site we would be swamped with people singing their praises and we'd all be waiting for our back orders! I too thought how good they looked and almost pushed the buy me button, fortunately I was distracted and managed to cool down. The last time I moved house my MIG welder mysteriously disappeared, Our move took place in several trips over about a month and by several haulage companies. By the time I fully sorted out my workshop and actually needed to use it I found that the lot was missing even the wire rolls and gas bottles and they weren't all packed together! My need is much less these days to weld and I would have loved the system they were showing!

That is so sad Sewin. They are extremely handy and once you master them you can do just about any sort of welding. Having said that we also lost one or two items during our shift up here to Kerikeri. Still very annoying for you I would think.

Bryan, Oddly it took several years to come to the conclusion that it had been nicked! I'd had a couple of occasions where I could have done a few small jobs but only half heartedly looked for it. We finally had a good reorganization of the workshop and that's when it became obvious it had gone. I have a lifetimes worth of tools and unsurprisingly every so often I find another missing! I have always looked after my tools from age 16 when no one would steal a tradesman's tools as that was how he fed his family, How times change!

There may be something infernal out there that eats these things! 🙂

Due to 'stuff' a few years have passed between me stripping Mrs Image's 500 Speed-Twin and me gathering it all up to rebuild again ... in the meantime the petrol-tank has disappeared off the face of the earth.... now it's not some little part to be falling down a crack in the floorboards and if you knew where I lived you'd also discount a passing opportunistic scrote ... the only part to have gone and have searched everywhere twice ... have finally settled on 'supernatural-intervention!! 🙂

K, I get this all the time, things disappearing even while I am using it. Doors unlocking overnight ,lights turning on, radios turning on, keys disappearing and then dropping from the ether beside me. Recently a strange translucent cone shaped light appearing in the dogs room on camera moving around the room even though no lights on curtains closed blind down. Some things miraculously reappear in front of me others never do.

Well, funny you should say that, we definitely have a poltergeist of some sort here! Been here about 25 years now and it certainly isn't as active as it was but nevertheless it still likes a laugh. Clearly hated the changes when we first moved in though!

When first here one of my jobs was all the plumbing and heating and loads of tools went missing, some have never turned up! Most did though, one day out and about with the wife and I bought a new tool bag, when home we took it in to the house and a couple of days later I went to change the tools from the old bag into it, couldn't find it anywhere! We turned the house upside down on several occasions looking for it until eventually we gave up. Must have been about five years later when one day I walked into the dinning room and it was sitting there as bold as brass under the table. In unison we both said 'poltergeist!'

The house with its Georgian front renovation of about 1760 is much older than that and is an estate house from that period. It has been the rectory when the landed sponsored the church, an estate house, A doctors house/surgery and a few owners previously to us there was a spiritualist living here! so no surprise here really.

We have done all the work on the house ourselves, sorry, I mean I have done all the work! With often a suggestion from my son as to what he will do to it when I'm dead! Shame he can't get out of bed and start now! The only time he's available is when his car is crook and then the start time is truly flexible for him! It is a supervisory roll obviously as he doesn't actually do anything! Buta t least it hurts a little!
