Always the same with any source of journalism.....take with a pinch of salt.

I think you may find that increasingly it's the fine print in the insurance contract that will increasing mitigate their risks or further reduce use of the vehicle under certain conditions . I've just renewed our buildings insurance thru our brokers with the same Insurance company we have been dealing with for years and for the first time ever the premium has gone down, but increasingly more limitations/restrictions are being introduced over the years. From my discussions with the brokers, I'm one of the very few customers who actually reads the insurance contracts.

Because its a policy for a block of flats. with communal areas to which Health and Safety and Fire regulations apply (unlike a residential house) the Insurers and the insurance market in general regarding these type of properties have increasingly put more requirements eg recently requiring Roof inspections every 2 years. If you don't pick upon these changes, you may find when making a claim, you may run foul of these requirements if not fulfilled.

I think this will be one of the mechanism ie the insurance contract terms they will use where they reduce their EV risk profile as the number of vehicles registered on the road increases and so the related incidents of claims rises.
