Fangio they are not! Nor is it a computer derived game and they won't walk away from the crash!

The CX drivers are having a pretty good crack at it.

Well I chose amanual P4 and not P6 because Krazy Horse could chip it. I would then have a P6 order of torque without the risk of the autobox dropping several gears. I'm not saying I haven't lost the back end on a trad (I did a 180 once in one Roadster) but I feel more in control in a manual in a car without traction control vs an autobox.

Tried a John Cooper Woks Mini today. Interesting with an internal standard of finish that the old BL designers couldnt even have dreamed of. And it went like stink but weaving as its front tyres lost grip and bouncing from pothole to pothole. SWMBO vetoed the car - she reckoned she could see horns developing on my head. But to be honest, it was overpowered for the chassis it had.

Howard depending on the age (new/pre-used)the slightly previous model had a JCW Estate (not jacked up) which was the M140i drivetrain I think? 2L Turbo 306hp, 4WD and good auto/override box. You could potter or plant it. Do consider how long the licence might last though, it picked up speed very quickly. It was very interactive which I think is whats being discussed here. It is getting harder to find anything that will not turn into an overprotective cotton wool ball if you try to do anything near the edge of the envelope even at low speeds.

When I swapped out the last AMG (ML63) for something new a while back I tried a few cars but ended up going back to a slightly older S212 shape (2016) AMG E63 estate as it let me play a bit before nanny wagged her finger. It is two wheel drive with quite good manual override on the gearbox, traction and power modes. You can tweak it to get more torque low down so traction can be more easily defeated making the driving way more interactive.

The newer 4WD S213 is just a small nuke that means if you do want a squeak from a tyre you will be doing highly illegal speeds and make a huge hole if something unplanned occurs.

In the recent wet and quite slippery weather it is way more fun to have a little tyre slip/spin at low speed and be involved, exactly as you say. You are actually driving.

Mind you tyres are expensive.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Mrs F has a MINI Clubman Cooper. It goes reasonably well and has a good amount of power. She also vetoed the JCW edition and is very happy with the car.

The car has been faultless so far - it will be 9 years old in September and, as of yesterday, she has owned it for 7 years. It hasn't been to a garage between services in the time we have owned it. It drives very well and I am very happy to do long motorway journeys in it although most of its use is backwards and forwards to the stables.

If you go looking for one, do make sure you avoid any that have runflat tyres fitted - they ruin the ride. It took a bit of finding our car to make sure of that point.

BTW - Mrs F is also fairly reliable.
