IIRC, and as mentioned earlier in the thread, the SuperSports based cars were more competitive than the Aero S3 based cars (which, if I am not mistaken, the damaged car is).

Although the SuperSports based cars had some success, Silverstone 2009 being one high point, I don't recall the Aero S3 versions being as competitive and seem to recall there being a fair amount of teething problems.

In 2008, Eric Sturdza kindly gifted my a book of the FIA GT Championship of 2007 and a quick glance at the GT3 results either don't mention the car(s), show DNF or it ranks near the back. There is one comment on page 43 which states: "The Morgan was waiting for a new development phase. Its extraordinary look made a big impression." That seems to reflect my memory of the season prior to the introduction of the SS based Aero GT3 cars; they were still being developed and this made for a frustrating season.

If memory serves, Eric sponsored three of the original GT3 cars and either two, or perhaps three, of the SuperSports versions.

Below are the 2007 Aero S3 based cars.

Do you mean the original cars (like the crashed one for sale) or the later Aero SuperSports versions?

I thought the wins were by the Supersport based models which they then banned as per all embarrassing situations.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

The Morgan Gt3 in total Simon not sure which car did what. Didn't Morgan sell off three cars just prior to the crash with two remaining I might well be wrong. I do remember having the honour of leading the Aero up shesley walsh in my green series1 and blagging a sit in the GT3 car afterwards, there was quite a process to start it but wasen't allowed....

That is my recollection as well.

As far I remember, the early Aero S3 based cars ran for a short period of time but were then replaced with the SuperSports based version. It was the later version which saw success for the team.

The ad seems to state that of the three early cars, this one remained as it was, whilst the two other cars were converted to SuperSports:

"Our car, acquired from the factory for our customer Roger Whiteside, was the first to be built and enjoyed a number of competitive top ten finished in 2008 in his first year. Two of its sister cars were converted into Aero Supersports for the 2009 season and won multiple FIA GT3 races in 2009, notably beating the much-vaunted new Audi R8 on its debut at Silverstone."

However, the text then goes on to call the crash damaged cars a SuperSports, which seems to contradict the first piece of text; furthermore, the photos also don't show a SuperSports based car.

"The car was damaged during an off at a very wet Britcar qualifying session at Silverstone some years ago having been rebuilt by us. With the recent re introduction of Motor Racing Legends Historic GT3w series, at the first of which Roger’s Aero Supersport set seme very competitive times." (error in the text is as per it appears on the site as of 12/01/25)

I'll do a little more digging into the archives and see what I can find out.

If I recall (I have a load of Aero books regarding the Le Man effort etc and GT racing) the S1 cars did quite well once up to speed (inc the famous Dewalt one), I am sure there were class wins and other success.

The S3 based ones seemed to do less well, but the Supersports were competitive.
