Can anyone tell me the price of a pair of new windscreen pillars for a 2018 4/4 both originals paint corroded. I have had quotes for them to be stripped blasted and repainted but I just want to know what the difference cost would be roughly.

Personally I would go down the option of refinishing your existing ones, if you buy some new OE replacements they will fail again eventually as they are not well prepped for the single coat of original finish

As a bonus you could match them to bodycolour or black at no extra cost

Think on here I saw someone stripped and polished the alloy pillars.. which could be a another cost free option

Another vote for Jon's suggestion. Having them blasted then powder coated would be a small fraction of the price of a new pair - little more than 15% at my local powder coaters. As well as having a colour choice you would almost certainly end up with a longer lasting finish than OE.

I had mine stripped properly prepped and painted body colour in 2019 no problem since, expensive though at £600 by well known dealer.

If you are going to get a bill of that size, why don't you do it yourself. They are alloy and you will be able to strip and refinish ready for painting quite easily. then spray with acid etch primer, then a suitable under coat and then your choice of finish colour. When you are happy hang them in the oven at about 75'C for an hour and that will harden the paint up nicely. Depending on what your draught excluder is, either a couple of strips of closed cell foam or the new profiled seals would need to be refitted. Not a difficult job and probably about £100 if you buy all bits and the paint required. Most of all think of the satisfaction you would achieve!

If you search for me in forum search I have previously posted an article on how to change the lower screen to scuttle rubber seal and that will show you what is required to remove the necessary parts to get at the A pillars. If they are £400 to buy you could probably double that bill if fitting is required. And I wouldn't let a non Morgan familiar person loose on that job if it was my car! Now £700 what else did I need for the Mog?

When you have to judge the Concours Morgans, you do see a significant difference in surface coating. It can range from a thick almost Hammerite texture which is obviously sprayed on, to a matte finish which almost looks like lightly lacquered alloy.

The first job should be to remove the allen headed setscrews, one at a time, and apply your choice of ceramic grease, grease, ACF50 or coppaslip.We all have our preferences.
Then screw back in without overtightening. The applied lubricant will squeeze out under the head of the setscrew and can be wiped away. This will prevent water ingress. This is equally relevant for the CX cars.

My Roadstet has the "Hammerite" look and after 20 years has not budged. I would say that this has been done without removing, because there are what I would describe as casual masking marks evident, although these are quite acceptible.

Because I've seen other cars like this, it's almost as it if was a warranty fix, done either at the factory or dealers. The super matte finish is another matter because excessive attention with anything other than a light wax, will create a polished patch of blotchiness, which is hard to get rid of, Strip and paint is the way to go.

One of the main dealers (Ledgerwood) some years ago used to offer a chrome plated version done to your own pillars, they soon stopped as the alloy at times was poor and had inclusions that bubbled through the chrome plating after a year or so (& it cost around £400)
