I too am not familiar with the GEMS system however I am still very suspicious of the fuel side-from the description . If possible I would drain the tank and replace filters again.

My +8 is 14CUX but we had a similar issue that defied a solution - I changed all the usual suspect sensors but eventually a good local garage (ex F1 engineer) traced it to water ingress and thus corrosion in the immobiliser receiver under the dash - now bypassed and no problem since.

Rovert.....my Maxiscan is a few years old and no longer supported for software updates. It works well on the Rover V8 though. It reads generic faults and you choose the engine maker to get specific codes for that engine. It works by choosing either Rover or Land Rover. I will dig out the model number. I think Sealey were UK distributors for the Autel range. There are others that some people in here use, some being a combo of a phone app and plug in dongle.

Waikiore; i think draining the tank and changing the fuel filter would be a sensible action, thanks for the suggestion.

Mike: That must have been a bit of a mare to find, I will add that to the list for the Garage

Sospan; thanks for taking time out for the update

I like Micks idea re the immobiliser, as I think there may have been a few issues around the time gems was introduced, Might be worth performing a GoMoG search..?
Fingers crossed.

i will have to swallow my brave pill when I mention 10AS immobilisers to my garage man. He hates the damn things, he was the service agent for the TVR dealer - which is where the hate began, but as a bonus of that period he does know the RV8s pretty well although 14CUX rather than GEMS,
