Personally not a fan of Greenstuff...snakeoil claims of low dust etc Mintex, too hard for tootling about in public & and aren't approved either I still prefer good 'owd Ferodo, just look up Austin Princess (no giggling at the back) nice progressive feel, no squealing, good life

Mintex MLB52 pads fit physically and are fine BUT when I last spoke with one of their technicians, he said they were not allowed to sell them for Morgans simply because they had not been tested under a certain standard (was it R90 or something?? cant recall & currently in Oz so cant look it up) I have fitted the Ferodo equivalent & they are fine.

Mogs particularly mine get very little brake use given light weight and plenty of engine braking. This leaves the caliper pistons in the same position for considerable time. In the past I've pulled out the hardly worn pads and inserted either old pads with minimal brake material left on them or even thin strips of wood to simulate. You then have the option with footbrake pressure to prove all pistons are moving freely. Furthermore the exercise of easing pistons back to allow the original pads to be replaced exercises piston movement within the bores. Whilst going through this procedure you also have the option of removing any glaze from pad surface using lightly diluted washing up liquid and rubbing their surfaces together.
Might be worth performing this routine before the biennial brake fluid replacement flush through.

I have Cain's race pads in my car, had to fit anti squeal shims as they were a bit noisy but ok now.

Yes I think that is what Cain was explaining that they are the same as MLB52 yet have the warning of not for road use. It's the 1801 version I believe. Give Cain a call and he will be able to shed more light on the subject I'm sure.

Blame it on a stinking cold and watching the 4/4 heading off to BHM in a trailer... Hope you feel better soon Graham. Is the 4/4 going forever or for some work?

It's been serviced by Mark Middleton for over 5 years now. Very convenient for me. I bought it through BHM over 10 years ago. Sad to see it go.
