Hi All,
My wife and I have been long-time Morgan owners having a 1995 Plus 8 from new to the present day and having used it for everything from long road trips to track days. We have just picked up a Plus 6 (MY22) with scarily little forethought! There have been some really useful discussions on this site but now I have a couple of newbie questions.
1) Side-screen Bag storage. We will be using the car for road trips so storage is important. We have a luggage rack with side-screen storage and a storage bag. The question is, where do people keep the well padded storage bag when the side-screens aren't in it? Has anyone put it back in the luggage rack and not lost it?
2) What essential spares/tools are recommended for a long road trip?
Any other advice is most welcome.
BTW I've only done about 100 miles in it but it is awesome. Asking newbie questions feels really odd having driven the Plus 8 over 90K miles I felt that I really knew it inside out how to do long road trips, days out, track days and all.

Thanks

Kev

If you cut a piece of hardboard or thin ply the shape of the sidescreen bag and cover in an old travel rug type material then it will hold it's shape when the sidescreens are in use

The fuel tank on the Plus Six ( also on the Plus Four ) holds less than older models. The general rule of thumb is to use a 250 mile target to refuel. That's about the distance to the fuel warning light coming on. Depends on how you drive though!
I have a Plus Four and on a long trip I fill the tank, zero the gauge readout. The gauge shows full for about 100 miles before it starts to drop, similar for the Six, I believe.
There are two types of luggage rack. One just plain and the other with a place to hold the storage bag.The sidescreen bag on the rack is ok if it is the one designed to hold it. If it is then you could strap it in if you want to. I never do and no problems. If no storage slot on the rack then put it behind the seats.

If side screens are on, I keep the tonneau in the bag; If screens are off, then tonneau on & screens in the bag.

You can of course have the tonneau on the passenger side if alone & side screens to stay toasty warm in winter

Think the replacement cost of the sidescreen bag is quite expensive so wouldn’t lose it.

I always have the empty side screen bag in the luggage rack compartment without any problems 😎

Texas. Congrats on the new purchase the cabin gets quite windy when your up to motorway speeds last year after about 150 miles with the sidescreens off the better half who is quite hardy asked for them back on which I was more than happy to oblige. Never noticed it so much on the trad and hardly any in the Aero. Spray ingress on a damp day is the worst we have driven mostly top up during this winter looking forward to some more settled weather. From a long term plus8 owner it will be interesting what you think of it. Still waiting for someone to produce a good behind the seat wind deflector. It does make you keep to the speed limit ish on the motorway though..... Em
