After a fantastic Morocco trip, I thought I'd just update all those interested in the technical issues that arose with the m3w's during the trip.

13 x m3w's attended Morocco.
Various levels of upgrades installed across the group.

10 x m3w's drove approximately 1850 miles each.
2 x m3w's drove approximately 3300 miles each.
1 x m3w drove approximately 2700 miles.

Total mileage covered of 28420 miles. (approximately)

So the 'failure' issues between Malaga start point and Malaga finish point (24050 miles covered by 13 m3w's ) were:

Car #1:
1/ Bad connector pin on fuel pump causing no fuel pump - rectified.

Car #2:
1/ Fuel pump failure (original part!) - replaced with Walbro at a coffee stop.
2/ Exhaust silencer weld failed at front pipe join (MMC exhaust) - exhaust removed at overnight hotel stop - local welder collected it (on his moped!) and returned with it fully repaired in 45 minutes!

Car #3:
1/ Rear wheel brake cylinder failure that led to hand brake over adjusting and therefore binding on drum. Removed back wheel in hotel car park early one morning - freed brakes by removing drum and isolated rear brake line. refitted and all good and continued on with tour albeit 30 mins later than scheduled start time.
2/ Very high front tyre wear rate - 80% wear on a new set of Metzeler's in about 1000 miles...just made a tape measure adjustment/guestimate to tracking and tyres and tyres lasted the remainder of the trip back to Malaga.

That was all.
The flatbed recovery truck that followed us in Morocco wasn't needed.

So I would say we can all agree that the m3w can be a reliable vehicle if maintained correctly with the required basic upgrades actioned..

Really interesting post, specifically when related to people wanting to do longer road-trips with the Morgan Three Wheeler.

Having done a 6,000 mile+ road trip beside a M3W, and that was a very early production model, on some challenging roads, in poor conditions, I know how durable they can be. The work, and knowledge, that the owners have contributed, since 2011, has only made them more reliable and capable of doing such journeys.

Any chance of seeing some photos of the Morocco M3W adventure, Stevo?

Addendum.... I typed many years back and on another Morgan forum having completed a circa 4k mile round trip, that I suspected any well maintained Trad Morgan would be capable of making such a trip with the occasional back road rough road adventure thrown in.... I even posted a few pics from a couple of such adventures my good lady wife and I made in our mid 80`s +8... Which I would currently trust on such a trip more than I might in my Porsche maintained 991...!

I have never posted pictures on TM...I'm sure one or more of the group will post pictures very soon .......it was a great tour and condolences to all those who hoped to attend but were unable to for whatever reason - you missed a fantastic journey expertly organised by the Speedy Marmots.

Thanks for the interesting stats for the recent Morocco trip Stevo66 . All the issues experienced were "known" problems, which is reassuring for those of us who use their M3W's for longer trips. Amazed that at least one participant still had the original (rubbish) fuel pump fitted, considering the cost of a reliable fuel pump conversion compared to the price of the trip. I suppose that they did know that there was technical back up but still.......

I know there will always be some random failure that will catch us out but it does seem that the M3W community here have identified and sorted most of the common failures over the years. 🤞
