Seconded. I use in the Morgan and MG. Little more pricey, but after much research found that it was also recommended by many of those with much more knowledge than me.

Just for info and yes wandering off topic for a minute re Porsche engines. The original service schedule on the 996 model (the first watercooled) was change the oil every 2 years!🤣 Long since proven to be bad advice! Even Porsche admits that. Oil and filter every year at an absolute max interval, even if only covering low mileages. Oils recommended by the manufacturer 20+ year ago are not necessarily the best for engines when they get older with higher mileages. So I guess similiar applies to the Rover V8.

Since you Possums appear so keen on MGB's I've put a couple of pix of my recently-completed V8 MGB in the photo gallery section.
cheers

PHZI, I suspect the 996 and up till 997.2 of Porsches water cooled 911 variants gained a bit of a rep for engine issues of a sort that the older air-cooled seemed not to suffer and which to the best of my knowledge were perhaps not really blamed on either the choice of lubricants or indeed the frequency of oil changes, though happy as ever to be better educated..

I think that flat engines may be more prone to exhibit bore scoring issues than vertical or V engine configurations...?

I think you may find that 2 year oil change intervals on 911 variants may still be the case, and certainly was the case up to at least 991.1 in 2012...

Griffo, still keen on MGB`s Midgets and others of that era, which made learning to weld and much else an absolute necessity...As for restoration, I posted some pics in the gallery of my MGB restoration attempts too, though unfortunately I no longer have gallery access due to my own digital dilemmas..!!!

So, today we had bright blue sky and sunshine, so I changed the engine oil and filter. I used the method of firstly draining the sump, then changing the filter half filled with fresh oil and then filling the sump and ...immediately got oil pressure. Pew. Was thinking of: Why not drain the sump and then fill the sump with fresh oil and then change the filter with half fresh oil. This allow you to start the engine right after fitting the filter. What do you think? Crossing my fingers that the Gulf 20W50 works ok, I normally use Valvoline VR1 20/50 Racing for the Mog and our AH 3000.
