Hi! Have you got experience to share regarding a new 4/4? Short version: I fell in love with the M3W pre Geneva, just had to order one at once. Recently understood that a four wheeler probably matches my needs of today slightly better (long story). Cancelled the M3W-order and turned my face towards the new 3,7L Roadster. Resulting in me having to give the piggy bank another two years of attention, love and care... My dealer then came with a brilliant proposal (deposit still there): to go for a 4/4 while waiting for the Roadster...and just by coincidence he got a new 4/4 in the pipe that needs to be specified on monday 20:th of February The "new" 4/4 could be delivered with spare wheel, easy up Everflex hood and lots of goodies... Please share your experiences and advices : - Engine/gearbox...quality, enought oumpf, feeling... - Must-have-options - Good/bad - Advice, rumours and pure wisdom Or should I just wait for the Roadster... Have a great weekend (I will for sure stay awake)/Tony - still a Mog-virgin but working desperately in solving it...

I would say, it all depends upon what you are prepared to lose financially when you change the 4/4 for the Roadster. If you can get the dealer to agree a price for P/E then you will know where you stand. Personally. I would buy a slightly older 4/4 where the VAT has been paid by somebody else.

Tony, I fully understand your being anxious to have a Morgan as soon as possible, ......but....I have had a 4/4 and now have a plus4 - I have also driven the 3L roadster. I would have a roadster if it were not for the €2000 annual tax here in Ireland!!
If you can afford a Roadster I, for one, would suggest you have a cold bath and think... Could you live with the relatively modest performance of a 4/4 -- I am happy with my plus4, but find it a real step forward from the 4/4. The Roadster is in a different league altogether.
I fear the dealer may be trying to "conveniently" use up the build slot he is committed to, rather than having that car in his showroom unsold with another order for a roadster on hands!!!
I would advise you wait for the roadster - so long as your finances allow!!!
Cheers!

Just buy one, if it has three or for wheels doesn't matter that much.
I bought a 4/4 2001 in 2008. And I would also like to try a sports model or a three wheeler.
I will always be looking for another Morgan, but I am still happy with that I bought the ting in the first place.
The car of my dreams will from time to time be the next one.
But I do love the one I already own, because it is what it is.
The search/hunt for the perfect one might keep you away from all the fun.
So jump at it!
regards

Cheers! Robbie, I think you've missed something. Tony is going for a 4/4 Until his 3.7 Roadster is ready! He's having his cake AND eating it I am assuming he's done a reasonable buy back deal with his dealer? If I'm right, go for it! How nice to have the opportunity
Cheers

Tony...before you take that plunge.....have a test drive in one. I love mine but its miles better with the 4.1:1 diff and sports exhaust system. I just keep away from driving anything else further up the range as I just know I'd be tempted and I really bought this one to hang on to and develop over the years.

Tony...before you take that plunge.....have a test drive in one. ..sorry, should have mentioned we have lots of snow here and roads are madly marinated in salt...But I heard the 1,6 roaring (well) in the showroom today...and also started one equipped with a sport exhaust (with side exit) which made it slightly better Now you start to understand why I humbly need all the knowledge of TM!

Snow and salt - buy a 4x4 (only joking). It all depends on how desperate you are to own a Morgan - if you can wait then get the new Roadster, but remember they have wide tyres and make very good toboggans in tricky conditions. I found the 4/4 was Ok in the snow but it needed full concentration if you wanted the pointed end to remain at the front. On the other hand the Roadster can almost do the same in the dry Whatever you decide it will be fun and the grin will last for years. Neil
