I cannot see any post where someone has "levelled" banter 'in your direction'. What I have seen on both Supersport threads are people giving their opinion of the new car and you taking umbrage of any opinion that differs from your own. In addition, you being dismissive of pre-CX vehicles. I won't go back and quote verbatim from your posts; however, perhaps you should re-read them.

Furthermore, perhaps it would be worth taking the time to understand this community and why it was created, rather than casting aspersions and generalisations about those who use it.

It was started in 2007 by myself, after the purchase of a Morgan Aero. I joined a discussion group, excited at my purchase, keen to know more. At first people were welcoming, at face value, but I soon started to receive direct messages, from key people, telling me that I hadn't bought a real Morgan. I took this in my stride but the messages didn't dissipate and over time I decided to create a place where all Morgan owners were welcome. This is, and has been, the ethos of Talk Morgan ever since. We may all have different opinions, view a certain Morgan as 'the best' and view the brand in slightly different ways but there is a place for everyone. Talk Morgan was always designed to be a comfortable pub, on a cold day... plush chairs, rich wood panelling, a warming fire, good food, excellent drinks and even better company. You may not agree with everyone in the pub but there is a place for you, a cosy corner to chat with people who are talking about something that interests you. However, everyone in the pub is respectful of one another and understands that there are divergent opinions on any number of topics.

You seem to want people to see the Supersport exactly as you see it and praise it in the manner in which you believe appropriate. Life isn't like that and I always appreciated that whilst I loved my Aero, not everyone did and, in all honesty, that didn't matter because what I felt about my purchase was key. You seem to be evangelical about your purchase and whilst I respect the passion, when it tips into failing to appreciate that other people may have differing opinions, I struggle with that. As I suggested above, lack of respect for differing opinions is not what TM is about. An opinion is just that... an opinion and stating it as fact, when it comes to the appreciation of something aesthetically, is short-sighted and lacks the appreciation that everyone views things differently and are entitled to their own take on said object.

As for your anecdotes, many people on here could share their experiences, myself included, but that doesn't negate the fact that just because someone critiques a design, that they support the company any less. That feels more to justify an specific approach than being open to the views of others on a topic you are passionate about.

So, in short, Talk Morgan was founded by someone who embraced development within MMC, has gone on to own multiple new Morgans, including one you personally mentioned as being a great example, as well as new traditional cars; therefore, casting the community as anything other than open to all Morgans, old, new or in-between, would be incorrect. What is less palatable is anyone unable to accept differing opinions or viewpoints.

Remember, my daily driver (300 miles a week) is a 1980 MGBGT that cost me £4K - when people say that we Morgan owners are a bit 'analogue', they're not joking

I can certainly appreciate new stuff, and would sell my Mrs for an Aeromax, and am a massive fan of the brand havng a family relationship with MMC that began in the 1950's and spans three generations.

Without wanting to stir this up any further, but just one point. There is a little more to what Phil writes in the last section. 3 years of Morgan enthusiasm, when I see your avatar, Spencer, vs. 3 generations and 75 years of Morgan faithful companions. I hope that your current and in my view perhaps a bit euphoric Morgan enthusiasm – from model to model – will develop into a long-lasting love for the brand, the cars and the companions in real life and here in the forum. That would be just wonderful.

Alas, my age and thus more limited experience are out of my hands. But I take both your points that due to that lack of time and experience my voice and views count for less, and so will bow out here quietly.

That's a shame, but if your reaction to a slight disagreement in opinion is to have a mild strop and walk away, then probably this forum isn't for you.

Yours views don't count for less, my dear chap - they just don't count for more.

My view ( and it is only my view ) on the new Supersports is purely the fact that I do not like its styling, for me the front end letter box and the semi trad front grill area ( or lack of it ) just does not work with the overall design. At the rear end I think the angle of slope is also not right, plus the hard top to my eyes is just plain ugly.. The latest wing mirror is also not in my greatest hits.. I described the car as looking like a bitsa and I still do.

We presently have a Plus Six, we purchased it coming from a 3.7 Roadster.. I liked the Roadster, I liked its looks, it was in todays terms a little crude in operation, but it had soul.. We sold it because I had issues at the time with my left foot and the clutch on the 3.7 is a bit of a push. We moved to the Plus Six as the design looked right, it was an auto, it drove well, it was comfortable for touring plus I appreciated the step up in overall engineering from the Roadster.. I disliked the design of the BMW autoshift lever in the Plus Six ( still do ), but have now sorted that. As our car was a fairly early build we experienced our own share of quality control issues and I hope we have now fixed most of them. We will be keeping the Plus Six..

Now I appreciate that the MMC have invested a lot of money and time in the Supersport, so I hope it works for them. Some folk will like the design, others will not.. thats life.

Toward the end of my career I used to be directly involved in design/engineering in an industry that invested multi millions in the build and operation of specialist vessels and their equipment, so I can appreciate that sometimes you get it bang on right first time and sometimes not.. the important part is to learn from mistakes, quickly improve and move on.. For me the encouraging side of the Supersport just from looking at the pictures is the improved attention to fit ( quality control ) and that has got to be a positive..
