My wife found driving the +8 difficult back in the 1980s when parking , Now she would find it impossible .Had a Santa Fe power steering fail some years back and it was virtually impossible to drive it to the repair garage ! One reason I think I need to invest in a new or newer Morgan .
Taking a brisk walk down the sea front might be good for the legs but do little for arm strength …….q try stress balls, especially after all the Supersport new car thread nonsense. MM
PS sorry Spencer left the forum as I appreciated his views but I think leaving suggested a real shallowness and little understanding of other peoples views . Hope he reflects, grows a pair, apologises and comes back as he was a valued asset . It’s what an older Morgan man I trust would do

Unfortunately in the last 12 months or so I fractured one arm and damaged and weakened the muscles in my other arm at the same time, just a fact of life. Which has reduced the strength and grip in both my arms and hands With the wider 205 tyres on my Plus4, makes hard lock turns at parking speeds whilst backing my car into its garage opening an immense strain and a chore. Something that Sue's diminutive size and strength couldn't do even on a good day. So the need for speed related power assistance may become a necessity. Whilst moving its not really an issue, but parking and slow speed manoeuvres on full lock can be draining after a while. I can see the benefit of power steering in certain circumstances, no matter what Morgan you drive.

It’s what an older Morgan man I trust would do Just spent an hour and a half washing and polishing the Plus 4 this morning, a great stress buster and helps build up my arm strength. I'm just biding my time to see how the newer CX reliability pans out and then I might jump into an automatic Y23 or later CX. Not so sure I like the new more slim line less lighting on the latest CX, but the right spec could tempt me. As in all things time is the enemy, it's not on any of our side, there is never the right moment, one can just trust one's instinct, take a plunge and always sell it if it doesn't quite work out as you hoped. Its not like it's trading in an arm or a useful leg for one, although often it can feel like it. at the time.

I have a 4/4, Cannot see a reason anyone would require power steering. The 4/4 in my opinion is the ultimate Morgan. Happy days +1 No bias here. None at all.  I know a lady Morgan owner and spirited driver who had the beginnings of arthritis in her wrists and without the aid of power steering would have had to stop driving her Morgan, so that is a good reason which we all might need one day!!!

My Roadster had a clone of the EZ powers steering system. When I had issues they helped me out despite MMC testing their units & then developing something similar. MMC were clueless as later cars have a different system. It makes a real difference & I would ask them if they can help. The link is her

i’ve just had the CDD power steering unit fitted to my 2004 S1 Roadster, just to help this old boy help to overcome that Arthur bloke who messes up your joints on shoulder and hands; When I brought the car in 2021 it had a 15” Motolita wheel that perhaps will give you some idea of the effort required at low speeds. I changed this to a14” wheel and it was still a struggle understandably.; the ps unit is quite a game changer, extremely easy low speed turning, with no effect noticeable when going 50 60.70, , .I woulld highly recommend this on the early Roadster.
I also sought information and advice on changing the manual gears box to automatic, as I have that bloke mentioned above affecting both my ankles with imminent ankle fusing or replacement to the left.. However this is not possible mainly due to the fact that the programming for the auto box on the Ford V6 is not available and the bulkhead would have to be modified to fit the auto box, the cost would be to much to justify.I am aware of an auto control to move the gear knob, but not for me.
Yes yes I know I can buy a MY22 auto CX for around 62K.BUT I thoroughly enjoy ability to drive a proper Morgan which is totally reliable, and fun.
