Probably this question looks like stupid but I can not find the battery in my Morgan. It is a plus4 from year 1999, 2 seats. My battery is out so I need to recharge with the clips Could anyone help me to find the battery and how to connect the clips. Congrat to England (wales 16 England 21 -6nations-) Thanks a lot from Spain

Have you looked behind the seats? There may be an aluminium plate - if so the battery is behind it. If not, remove the tool tray and you should find it next to the rear axle.

Behind the seats the car has a key to disconnect the batery, so the battery should be behind the seats, but I will check both places.
Thanks a lot

Behind the seats under the carpet is a horizontal wooden "saddle" board turn the catches and lift it out from the front edge and the battery is under there. There are no stupid questions with Morgan's on this site. Good Luck.

It’s a Morgan so best to lift the saddle board and read what the original is. It’s a two minute job.

Probably, it’s a Morgan so anything’s possible… if you lift off the carpet on the parcel shelf behind the front seats you will see, possibly, a blanking plate which could be wood or aluminium. Not all Morgan’s had this so it may be you have to cut an access panel or access this through the tool tray. Unscrew the blanking plate if present and you should find the battery over the axle. Once you have the battery replaced I would suggest you connect cables from the battery through a hole through the board, easy to drill, so you don’t need to remove it every time and then you can connect a C Tek, or similar, charger to keep everything topped up. All Morgan's vary but mine is ok for a month or more without charging but I normally plug it in if I know it won’t be used for a week or more just to make sure the battery remains fully charged.

Andrew, I was just reading your post re batteries and I liked your idea of connecting cables to the battery terminals and putting them through the ply board over the axle. What did you use to make up the cables, I am thinking of their use if you need to use an emergency stater pack. Obviously they would need to be insulated in some way.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg
