I have a 1967 4/4 that I inherited from my dad. I have had it fr 6 years with only minor issues. Then I had an oil filter changed on my Morgan, and they didn't put oil in. The engines seized and had to be rebuilt. One year later, the engine has been rebuilt with larger pistons, and now the carburetor is causing backfire. Do you think we need a new carburetor? The existing Carburetor is a Weber 32DFM? Does anyone know where I can buy one, and does it sound like the right size now that the pistons are bigger? Its so frustrating, I am ready to ditch the car.

Sorry to read of your dilemmas. I suspect your current problem could be down to the ignition timing being out, or if someone has messed about with it perhaps check the spark plug leads are in the right order. Keeping my fingers crossed for you..

I answered your post on Morgan Experience, but will copy same answer here: As yours in a 1967 I'm assuming that it's a 1500 Kent Pre crossflow engine? I think the 1600 Crossflow engine wasn't introduced to Morgan until 1968. However, early Crossflows used the 32DFM so should be fine for yours, even with increased capacity. I would imagine the carb just needs a good clean/rebuild. Parts are readily available in the UK - https://www.webcon.co.uk/products/8007-32dfm-and-32dfe-service-kit/I don't think the 32DFM is available new, but a common upgrade is the 32/36DGV - https://www.webcon.co.uk/products/1018-3236-dgv-5a/

First I would check if the backfire is on the over run when decelerating. This can be caused by an air leak into the exhaust system. Best to follow the advice from members.
