Think we are are own enemy when it comes to searching. If we put up posts entitled “Help”, “plus 4 problem” or other non-descript titles, is it hardly any wonder that the search engine misfires!

GPWM. Perhaps we need a standardised format for Subject lines, sort of Issue / Subsystem / Model (eg Clutch Bleed / Transmission / 1998 +8 )? But getting everyone to follow it would be another challenge, like DaveW says it's like herding cats in here smile

Just something to be aware of when looking at or for a Hayes workshop manual/s:

An example, You own a 2009 100 year heritage car, a plus 4 2.0Lt and you want the workshop manual for the car/s that your the engine was fitted into. The Duratec Ford engine was fitted in 2004 and remained in the above car until 2014 when at the time of the Geneva motor show the Gdi variant was introduced, although in typical Morgan style the early Duratec continued to be fitted along side the Gdi dependent on order requests and what Morgan had left in stock. Then in 2012 the Ford G/box was dropped and a Mazda box superseded it, again the change-over was not on or from a defined date, and from late 2010-2011 the MT-75 G/box alongside the Mazda box was fitted.

So your car has the original Duratec engine and Ford (MT75) G/box. Easily you find that the Ford Mondeo had your engine fitted so you look for the W/shop manual of which there are quite a few. You come across one for the Mondeo from 07-14, Great you think, my car is bang in the middle date wise and I know the Gdi was fitted in 2014 so that makes sense. Well that manual covers the Gdi engine onwards .... bug**r, £20 wasted. Eventually you find that it's the series 3 Mondeo W/shop manual that you need and that's dated for cars between 2003-2007. So bear in mind that Morgan are not generally fitting bang up to date engines and transmissions even at the start of a model change. They are buying engines the likes of Ford, now BMW are marketing post their car production years to maximise tooling costs and to support their spare parts suppliers. So the moral here is, research before buying and don't feel silly in asking here first!

Mark, Just to clarify, your 4/4 should have the Ford Zetec silver top engine and the Ford MT-75 G/box.

I don't use the TM search engine as it tends only to bring up recent posts with tenuous connections to the searched topic. Using Google though and adding "Talk Morgan" to the end of the search text is far more reliable.

Good idea, and if you add the site restriction to the search string you will only get results from Talk Morgan, so for example you'd enter the following into the Google search bar:

Code
Workshop Manual 4/4 site:talkmorgan.com

Sewin,

It’s certainly got the Zetec silver top and nothing I’ve seen suggests that the gearbox has been changed.
