Yes good idea when I go down solo, the good lady Is not partial to the Plus 8 topless so barely comes out in it.
Her Polo has the same 190 bhp 1.8 Turbo performance, better handling with full glass sliding tilting roof and aircon and manual a rare spec one so I get to play sometimes.

Another traditional experience being flattened out by current trends? No doubt it will come back into fashion in ten years time at quadruple the cost. A bit like the current fashion for playing music on "vinyl" on the oldest, nastiest, cheapest turntables people can find. At £25 a disc with scratches and pops. Do they not realise that there is a reason high quality streaming developed. Said the man with a Rock and a Snobdeck....Ah well I never claimed to be smart.
Thank you for the pointers to the various cider locations, I look forward to trying them when I get down there (all being well) in Summer.
I never got into beer, going from Cider to cocktails and shorts, then learning about wineand fizz. It feels like another unnecessary restriction on life.
I totally agree with the comments re sugar loaded, apple adjacent fizz being marketed as cider in these modern times, quite horrible and the future of diabetes.
Rhubarb Cider sounds interesting. Alistair I shall arrange a TM visit and overnighter here I know TBM and Graham would be interested we could tie it in with a river and train trip if it suited folk. p.s. Still planning the Haynes / Yeovil visit for later in the year or I tie them all together for a two overnighter as people are travelling a bit ? If anyone is interested in a combined 2 nighter or 1 nighter let me know please and I'll get my arse in gear.

If you are ever near Bridgnorth then I would recommend The Cider House at Quatt, last time I went they only sold cider, in a rural location with up to 10 different varieties of cider, back in 2023 for £2.50 a pint. , You need a nominated sober driver as their scrumpy cider has you legless after a pint or two, the cider just goes down so easily on a barmy summers evening. https://www.thespecialcidercompany.co.uk/about-us

The benches are gone and there is a real bar not just barrels on sawhorses. If you visit the cider bar then I suggest a hotel in walking range.

Perhaps we should start a thread for the cider jaunt so we don't pollute the beer thread ?
Provided all goes well with the move I will have a couple of spare bed/bath that can be used.
No parking unfortunately which can be fun in Dartmouth apparently.

Good John no I'll find somewhere in the Newton area as it could get very messy. This is what they have done, I'm always driving so don't go in, will do to check it out prior to visit. Originally a farmhouse in the 18th Century, the building was converted to a pub in the late 19th Century and is one of the few remaining true Cider Houses in the country. It is a past winner of CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year and home to, what is believed to be, the last remaining Cork Club in the country, a semi-charitable drinking institution it has been described as a poor man's Freemasonry. The furniture is hard wooden seating and tables.The bar front is made out of old barrels. There's a choice of 17 Ciders, plus guests, also Perries and a large variety of Fruit Wines. Bar snacks are available. The clientele is varied and the entertainment is conversation!! A must visit if you are in the area. Purchased by the current owner in February 2020. In 2021, selected as one of 32 pubs across the country to receive a CAMRA Golden 50 Award.
Local branch's Cider Pub of the Year 2022.
We really need to visit as it is a couple of doors down from the house that Heather's great grandfather was born and lived so proper Devon bird but born in Brizzle as her dad was in the army. I hope Jan is getting on ok with the treatment and MG.

There is a cider museum in Hereford with lots of different brands on offer. But more interesting perhaps is the cider trail that they run . This goes round a lot of small traditional mom and pop cider mills locally and you can sup the old varieties including true perry.. Only issue is that someone has to drive.
Really worthwhile because you experience all the different tastes - mass produced cider made from bought in apple juice has little or no taste anyway.
Another visit of interest just outside Falmouth is the Rattler cider mill. The interesting bit ( apart from the 8% stuff which is rather tasty ) is that it is owned and run by the Healey family of Healey 3000 fame. There is a small Healey car museum in the plant. When I asked them how they got the alcohol out of the zero alcohol cider they told me - its never in there! Their zero alcohol cider is just apple juice!
