Based on how much the centre boot costs for a JK rack the used one for sale is a bargain

If I still had a Mog with the JK rack I'd hoover it up in a blink to keep as a spare

As advised in the other steering rack thread I pulled the pre-load adjuster out, with some difficulty, it was well stuck in the rack! I turned it down in the pillar drill using the method described by DaveW and reassembled. Reading Dave’s thread again I realised I hadn’t checked the fit in the adjuster screw so pulled it out again, sure enough it was wedged tight in there too, so went through the process again.

On Saturday the new gaiter kit from Andre Koopman arrived which is a vast improvement on the original, so that will be going when I get back from the UK.

To close this off, I’ve now fitted everything back on the car - stub axles with new bushes and kin pins, new main springs, track rod ends, inner track rod bushes, Andre Koopman steering rack gaiter, wheel bearings and seals, all new nuts and bolts.

Set the tracking with chalk and a plumb line good enough to drive to Service58 garage in Ouroux en Morvan (1SAS were there for six months in 1945, good book by Ian Wellstead on their exploits) for four wheel alignment.

Had a lovely drive back through the Morvan forest - 12km’s of newly tarmacked twisty hilly road!
