When I contacted them prior to them becoming MSCC insurer of choice they told me they didn't do special deals for Morgans.

I am in shock. Our MG ZS EV cover is up 20/5/25. I had already searched the Meerkats and the Opera singer in anticpation of the usual search the best offer game.
The best offer was £300 which was pretty much what I paid in 2024 (£296) & that was for 9 months on an 11 year old Polo plus 3 months with a new MG ZS EV so car values jumping from £9k to £36k & a BEV as well.

Churchill the current supplier has come in at £266 including increasing the mileage to 6 k from 5 k.

That is for fully comp social domestic & pleasure, protected NCD plus legal liability at 67 with 9 years + NCD.

It will be interesting to see how the Mog compares in Sept.

I'm off for a lie down.

I haven't approached G&W, and I'm currently on a multicar policy with Admiral; both cars (a Volvo EV and the Plus Six) came in at renewal at less than the premium for last year, the Meerkat almost matched the price on the Mog but with slightly fewer frills; Finch and PJ were more than double the renewal premium. I'm not sure Churchill are on comparison sites, so I'll try them separately and also ask G&W to quote next year.

I saw a recent video of Martin Lewis saying that motor insurance has come down by an average of 16% so if your existing insurer offers to renew at the same price as last year that doesn't mean it's a good deal. We have a 2004 Porsche 911 which has just come up for renewal. LV increased the premium by fifty quid to £344, I tried Go Compare and got better coverage (includes No Claims protection) from Churchill at £177,almost half the price! No prizes for guessing who got the business! LV never even tried to keep it when I said I wasn't going to renew.

Gott and Wynn quoted me £307 for 2,000 miles a year. That's a lot more than I ever paid. My current insurer Ageas came in at £150. LV at £206 for 3,000 miles and I can drive other cars not so with G&W.

Just tried Churchill, they "declined to quote". I assume it was on the basis of the value of the Plus Six. I realised afterwards that they are part of Direct Line and DL have been said to have an upper limit for the value of a car.

Peter James was announced today as the new insurance partner of the Vintage Sports-Car Club, replacing Hagerty. No comments so far on the VSCC forums.

In Miscellany this month an article by Dave Youngs of Peter James. He states that when parked you should take (reasonable precautions) to protect your vehicle, personal belongings should be secured in the BOOT, we expect you to ROLL UP YOUR WINDOWS. Clearly Mr Youngs has never seen a Morgan. Doesn't exactly inspire me to insure with them.

Many insurers now require a convertible roof to be closed so no access to the interior when parked up/left unattended.
