MSCC now recommends Peter James Insurance with "exclusive benefits". They've dropped Headley, Gott etc as "partners"
Just got my quote from G&W. Pretty much the same as last year. £383.
Out of curiosity, rang Peter James: They came up with a fantastic quote of £683 for pretty much the same benefits/exclusions as G&W.
HaHaHa!

I've been a happy customer of G & W since 2018, but, with my renewal due shortly, I thought I'd give the newly appointed MSCC insurers a try for comparison purposes. To be honest I wasn't totally surprised by the outcome..........G & W £348-00, Peter James £501-00. I'll pass this on to MSCC for their records.

Jiohn - This is yet another occasion when I question why I am a member of MSCC As an MSCC Centre Sec this is one of those where MSCC surprise us as much as you; we knew a few weeks earlier. But in fairness they should be looking for good deals for members. .

Has anyone on this site had a claim for agreed value? and would it be any different from market value? Have been with Gott and Wynne since 2016. Just over 5 years ago I had a major claim. Barry Wynne took personal control over ensuing negotiations with the insurer as the agreed value had been increased by a well known dealer earlier on the very day of the claim. The full agreed insurance value, which reflected market value, was paid within 4 weeks. Since then G&W have consistently offered very reasonable premiums and excellent service. Consequently they retain my business.

... I fear that it will only encourage the other companies to raise their rates towards the “approved” companies rates and the whole Morgan community could end up paying more in years to come. The insurance industry is extremely competitive, I don't see any reason to conclude that companies will decide to increase their prices to compete! Insurance has never been a factor in MSCC membership for me and I'm struggling to understand why people are getting so upset about this. In 17 years I've only used an MSCC-approved insurer - Heritage as it happens - for a short period. Neither Gott & Wynn nor Headly ever gave me a competitive quote. There are many classic insurance companies out there after our business, I've been with RH for several years and they have been excellent. If the one in Miscellany doesn't quote you happy there are plenty of others. It seems reasonable to me to be upset that a marque cub that charges for membership wishes to restrict its members exposure to competitive rates. After all, it is presented as a benefit!

With G&W you're dealing with people who know Morgans .... check your small print .... most now demand that the car is secured when left even for a while ... ie hood up and doors locked when paying for petrol or stopping for a coffee ... annoying in a central-locking, power-hooded Beemer .... would be utterly tedious in a Mog (tell your insurer your car has no door or bonnet locks ... or maybe even no door-handles at all, with the only security being sliding back an un-locked bit of perspex 🙂) ... G&W square all that with their insurance supplier up front .... doubt many others go beyond the 'one size fits all' small print.

I assume you told them what they had to match? If so and you go to PJ the fun will start next year.
I rung PJ when my insurance was up for renewal but I refused to tell them what my GW quote was. They would only give me an estimate, it was 20% up on the GW price.
Cheers John.

To quote The Clash…. ‘Should I stay or should I go.’ 🤔😊 Ah, now I can help you there! Should I stay, or should I go now? Should I stay, or should I go now? If I go, there will be trouble And if I stay, it will be double

SPOOKY!
As I logged out I received an email from Peter James (MSCC Ins) offering me cover at exactly the same price as G&W… £264 cheaper than yesterday afternoon!
Hats off to them, the lad was very helpful and said the Morgan World was new to them.
To quote The Clash…. ‘Should I stay or should I go.’ 🤔😊 Spooky, or is there a mole somewhere? Too coincidental to get offered exactly the same price surely? So, if you had accepted the day before, they would have made a killing. I find it difficult to deal with companies like that. And…If the “Morgan world” is new to them, settling Morgan claims will certainly be even newer! Note also, I am told that you are not covered if you park your car with the hood down (unlike G & W for instance.)

Reading all the above about insurance. I have used G&W since iI brought my MOG in 2002. As i was in the Royal Navy at the time, know one else would insure me due to parking on MOD grounds. Over the past year i Have had to make a couple of claims, due to people reversing into my MOG. The first was a Chelsea Tractor and the other a Ford Transit can. On both occasions my claims were dealt in a first class manner. I literally didn't have to do anything apart from phoning them up. I wouldn't go with anyone else. Recently i had to make a claim for my wife's Tintop when a Learner driver decided to change lanes, whilst i was still in it. The stress to both myself and wife was horrendous. i do believe it helps when a member of the G&W team drives a MOG!

I’m staying with G&W… this year at least 😊 Good !, G&W have supported the MSCC and annual Mog events for many years and ended up binned in favour of a solus deal just so the club could get a golden handshake on top of the £100's of thousands sat in the bank anyway

you only find out how good your Insurer is when you come to claim Absolutely. I found this out first hand following a major claim. G&W were superlative. Agreed. I was with an insurance broker for 16 years, we always told clients and prospects that the first consideration should be the ability and willingness of the insurance company to pay a claim. Are these "Insurance Updates" adverts or articles? If the latter then surely it's the role of the editor (or his/her team) to check the facts and accuracy before publication!

Ian and everyone else above. G&W are first class. They may not be the cheapest but over the last 23 years i have had to make 3 claims, cars reversing into my MOG (One Transit van, 2 x Land Rovers!) . I have got to say it just taken one phone call and everything has been taken care of.
