Hi, I have the above car, fitted with what I am told is the original Morgan Sterling alarm/immobilizer system. This has a small plastic fob that needs to be placed a very specific, but fairly random, distance from the ignition key to have any chance of starting the car. Does anyone have experience, and clear instructions, on how to remove the entire alarm system? My impression is that the designed in challenges to starting the car are sufficient theft deterrent without adding a 10 year old alarm system with a single copy of the key/fob. Many thanks. Alistair

The TOAD immobiliser system was an optional extra Alistair although most people took it. Without, the loom has a shorting plug left in. Consequently all you need to do is unplug immobiliser and replace with matching shorting plug. It should be easy to find as it's the only multi way connector behind dash with all black wires going to it. Someone may have a spare plug especially if they retro-fitted an immobiliser. Otherwise you need to obtain plug and add four jumpers as per matching cable numbers below. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/qIashls.jpg) Old thread on the subject here.

If you need to make a jumper plug the information is in the Alternative Parts List, Interiors section towards the end. Look at the owners resources at the top of this forum to find the list. It plugs into the main loom where the immobiliser loom unplugs. The fob (you should have two) for the immobiliser isn't normally that sensitive to position, as long as it is within an inch or so it should work, maybe the sensor under the shroud is not well located? You are right that this car is low in the league of stolen cars. It's not the simplest to start and stands out too much.....then how to you get get rid of it if stolen? I have not heard of one being driven away by a thief, has anyone? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2025/04/25/Jumper-plug-1.md.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2025/04/25/Jumer-plug-2.md.jpeg)
