Yes, for the first 1000 miles. Basically not to over-rev the engine.

I have noticed that the usual advice is not to run it at a constant throttle opening for long periods either. Easy if you avoid long boring drives on the motorway. drive

Are you picking the car up at the factory?

I was advised to run my +4 at no more than 3000 revs for the first 1000 miles. It didn't take long to reach the mileage!

And then...if you want to maximise the performance from the engine, give it plenty of revs every now and again. That was advice I got from Mark in the factory and it works!

hi Peter. no im collecting it from Allon Whites, as they are, amongst other bits fitting a touring pack & union Jack enammel badges.
Jay, am i right in thinking that you are sugesting a quick rev whilst stationary, now and again.

Can't find the article, but remember reading that the ECU on the sigma engine optermises to your driving style over 60 cycles. You can reset it by disconnecting the battery, to again do your 60 cycles. The article mentioned that on the 1st few cycles the ECU would not be right so be careful.
If I find the article I'll post the link.

Kris... I meant that after the initial running in of 1000 miles, then use the full rev range whilst driving every now and again to loosen up the engine. The engine really needs to be under load when doing it...not stationary.

When are you picking it up? I'm taking my 4/4 down to Allon Whites early in March to have one of their hoods fitted.

Interesting about the ECU Bob.....that the same for a few cars I've owned. A bit simpler on my motorbike if the battery is disconnected...I just have to turn the throttle around to the max position and back to zero a couple of times to reset....otherwise I don't get full power.

The ECU on the 4/4 Sport is a bit of a lash up...a Morgan ECU piggybacked to the Ford one and relies on a clutch switch to get round problems of hanging onto revs whilst changing gear...something the Ford cars do and not what you want in a lighter Morgan. My switch was faulty and resulted in a very abrupt drop in revs when changing gear and a kangarooing car!
