Wow Tim that is epic. Dave we saw the Orkneys then not a lot as cloud came down. Haven't done the bit Tongue to north of Ullapool so would be interested in your thoughts.

If you think that's good, you want to try the B862 General Wade's Military Road up the South-Eastern side. You can't see Loch Ness, but there are a couple of smaller lochs and the road is just epic driving.

And will eventually pass this memorial, Stratherrick, a little further north than Tim's photo. (My previous MINI parked in the layby)

Today, we visit the BHM Breakfast meeting. Starting in the middle of nowhere in Sussex (our B&B on a farm) and Drive now smallest roads.

It was a great fun to be there. Great people and a warm welcome! We enjoyed it very much!

The way home we chose another route, but also small roads. A wonderful day out.

Thanks to all!

Just over 100 miles today from Forss to just West of Scorie. 40% of this section is single track, and some sections are rough. The conventional two lane sections are generally good. Not much traffic. A few camper vans but most parked up, and only a handful coming towards us. Nothing of interest, just a Morris Minor. No Morgans.
Like Applecross, the NC500 is a bucket list drive and for both, timing is critical.
The scenery is astonishing, but the single track roads need focus. There are some amazing golden sand beaches, but even today with clouds and a chill wind, the restricted parking available was rammed with campervans. It must be hell in July and August.

Glad you're enjoying your road-trip ... have done most of the NC500 before it was a thing with a name ... really quiet back then!!

The crowds are why we're glad the EC250 (which was the East-Coast sort of version in an attempt to pull in some tourists) never got any significant traction ... it means that, in spite of the NE being a hidden Gem, we're spared the hordes and can enjoy it to ourselves 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your trip 👍

If you are still in the area, and have any interest in geology, might be worth checking this location out Dave..?

The Monza filler cap. I was at the factory last week and it was fitted to at least 1 US bound Plus 4. I noted the fuel tanks on these cars are plastic not ali. The guide commented they had had trouble getting a seal between these and standard caps to plastic fuel tanks.

I had a wonderful 150 km drive in sunny weather today. It was the first trip on winding country roads since I got new Wolf Performance dampers fitted at the rear. One of the original Bilstein dampers was completely worn out at 74000 km. Working together with the additional air suspension dampers, the Wolf Performance dampers at their softest setting worked perfectly.

Thanks for the link Luddite, but too late! Today about 180 miles from Badcall Bay to Ullapool on totally empty roads. Slightly busier into Inverness, then the usual shitfest at Inverness, even though it's BH Monday. Then more deserted roads to Grantown on Spey, Timontoul, and over the Grampian Ski Resort, finally to Aboyne. We now stay five days to do some hiking. Very pleased to have done most of the NC500. The only part left is the coastal route through Gairloch. Save that for next time.

Short trip over to Anglesey to return a pick axe and collect a circular saw. Went over the Denbigh Moors via Betws y Coed.

Took the good lady plus my rat terrier.

Happy days

Arwyn
