Hello chaps, I was just wondering if anyone had found an acceptable way to have the trad hood attached at the rear ready for a reasonably quick erection in the case of rain in a similar fashion to the easy up version. whilst still being able to retain the full toneau. With the way our weather changes I'm getting a bit concerned about leaving the hood in it's bag at home.

What type of hood? I assume yours is not an easy-up type. If so, on my Plus8 with an Everflex 9 stud I left the rear studs connected then folded the front part inwards, either tucked into the space over the shelf or left to form a tonneau cover type set up. To raise it a quick raising of the hoops, pull the hood over and attach to the windscreen top, then set tension with the swivel pivots. In effect a semi easy-up hood. The foldiing was done to protect the clear window areas, two stages depending on which alternative I needed. I might still have photos of the sequence so will have a look.

Ah but Keith that would change the spec of the 80th anniversary car, i'm not too concerned about the hood, I was just asking if anyone had thought about it and it would seem that sospan had, for most situations I am happy to carry waterproofs especially as the leather is waterproof and my bum will cover most of it.

Back in 2003, I had to pay extra for the trad hood! I didn't want the modern folding top. I have never regretted that decision.

Dancing around the car when setting up in heavy rain is just part of the fun....

That photo I posted ( a poor copy,) shows the hood folded and the side turnbuckles reset. It does form a Targa-like cover for the shelf and to fully raise the hood undo the turnbuckles, unfold and pull the hood forward to windscreen, fit and tension with swivel pivots.
I used to choose whether driving with the hood as shown or fully folded but still rear connected. Look at the weather forecast to decide. Option 3 was replace the hood with tonneau cover if weather good.

Looking at the so called half folded position in the photo above, I used to do something like that where I supported one of the hood hoops somehow!
I wish I could remember how! Old boy, memory etc. I have only just bought a Morgan again after 4 years absence so no surprise there then!
If anyone can remember how and what is used to support the half raised frame...!!
