Hey guys,
I’m new here and I am in search of my first Morgan purchase.
Curiously I’ve found literally dozens of 2005 Morgan’s and a few 2020 models but very little else in between. What’s up with that. Did Morgan produce an unusual amount of roadsters in 2005?
Yesterday I drove a goodly distance to test drive a 2005 roadster 3.0 with the full intention of purchasing it. I was disappointed. In the photos it appeared impressive but in person it looked all of 20 years old. It started and drove OK but I believe I may need to add $10k or $15 to my budget to get what I want. I have a feeling this may be a long extended search.
Any suggestions where to aim my search?
Richard

In the USA I don’t think Morgan were allowed to import any cars between 2006 and 2018/19. The later were called Roadster 65 and came in minus engine which was fittted by the dealer

Is there a local Morgan club that you can reach out to - they should be able to help.

The numbers of Roadsters in the USA will be really small numbers, whether that is the S1 or the final numbers with engine installed over there. So finding the right one will be a challenge.

Just a thought - does the OP mean "Roadster" as in model name or "roadster" as in generic term for our favourite kinds of car?

That is why this name chosen by MMC was such a surprise. It suggests a bit of short sighted-ness, when the MGB had been a Roadster from 1962, and obviously, Roadster was a generic title for anything with a fabric roof in a certain era.

Yes, especially when +6 was such an obvious option.

IIRC there's a home modded Mog with a BMW straight six in the UK somewhere, it has a Plus 6 cowl badge

Yes I believe it had a BMW M20 straight six engine.

There was. It belonged to a DonMog stalwart for a while.
