Hi everyone,
I’m Annie, writing from New Zealand to share something a little bit special we’ve uncovered on our family farm.
It’s a 1950 Morgan Plus Four Works prototype, chassis number P2038 — believed to be the first Plus Four Works car built by the factory. According to a letter we have from the Morgan Motor Company dated 1977, this car was:
- Originally fitted with a Vanguard V24ME engine
- Used in early rallying
- Personally driven by Peter H.G. Morgan
- Continuously upgraded at the factory before being sold to a private buyer in the mid-1950s
We also have a period rally photo of the car and a 1977 factory letter confirming its prototype status. The Morgan Motor Company has recently expressed interest in bringing the car back into their historic fleet, though their budget is limited — so we’re opening it up to the broader Morgan community.
The car does need restoration, and any transportation or repairs would be the buyer’s responsibility. It’s been dry-stored here on the family farm in Moonshine Valley, NZ.
We’d love to see it go to someone who truly understands its place in Morgan’s history. I’d be so grateful for any insight, reflections, or interest from this amazing community.
Happy to send through documents and images to anyone keen.
Warm wishes,
Annie
