An update, fully checked (as best I can) the engine bay, & other than the foam I can see no damage, moved on the cockpit, again no damage, then I noticed the carpet on the rear shelf was lifted, some damage but nothing if not pointed out, so I opened the boot to find Mouse Haven... shredded micro-fibre cloth’s & a large pile of dry dog food!!

To my surprise then out pop from the boot lip this little fella….

Needless to say, its now, along with a friend, a slightly different shape, the traps worked well.

The dog food has now moved to a different lockup, & in a steel bin, I’ve yet to decide on a new cat……

Have you turned the engine over, gently?
I don't think they can get near, but a pal with an old Matchless 250 found after one winter that he could not fully turn the engine over, but he can rock it, just not as far as TDC. He suspected the little blighters had been storing nuts and seeds in the combustion chamber, reached via the exhaust pipe and valve (there was no air filter damage - a non standard item).
Unfortunately, he's now retired and I have not heard whether the head is off the engine yet...

Cheers,

On a modern car the cat should block that path to the combustion chamber. happy3 hide
