Good choice that is a step up. 1st is too short so pull away in second. Use 3rd for the B roads & grins.

I am in the process of doing just that having traded my 4/4 for a 3.7 Roadster with Krazy Horse, goes like a stabbed rat, hopefully will be with me for the weekend. Nice, be careful on the loud pedal if the road's greasy or wet

Also watch out for rev hang. Later cars seem less prone to it. If the revs don't drop instantly as youtake your foot off the throttle & depress the clutch then you have it. Plenty is written on here about it.

Thank John, i am beginning to wonder if I have bought the right car, we will see. I hope so as it looks and goes well, still as it will be the 5th car I have had in the last 12 months, I can always change it I suppose.

It took me a while to bond with my Roadster. I missed the V8 exhaust note, the engine whirring tone doesn't suggest at all how it goes. It was a slow build based on how it just delivered everything it needs to. And it is way better now with steering bearings, 4 leaf rear springs and a panhard rod.
17 years later I have no regrets at all.

Recommend Conti Premium Contact 7 tyres Reg, if you have 16 inch rim option that being the smallest size they cater for. So much better than the factory fit Avon ZV7's that harden up after five years or so and become dangerous with the slightest hint of a damp surface.
I too was told to use 2nd from standing start. It becomes second nature to load up the clutch for a quick getaway with breathing space before next change. Steep hill starts and trickling very slowly in traffic at idle makes good use of 1st. If your car was built on or after April 2018 it will have the factory 5 link rear suspension keeping the rear axle under far better control.

Richard, thank you for your input, much appreciated, yes the car does have the factory 5 link suspension. The wheels are alloys 15" and the tyres look o.k. but I will keep an eye on them. Perhaps we will get to meet some time as I'm only down the road in the Broads.
