My 2005 Roadster is in dire need of 2 (new) catalytic converters which my garage is struggling to source (along with 4 x Lamda sensors).
Any helpful suggestions appreciated (keep it simple please!)

Try Autodoc: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spares-search?keyword=AU5A-9D370-FCThe sensors on my 2005 are as follows:Upstream nearside with a grey latch plug is YL84-9F472-AE. Upstream offside with a green latch plug is IS7F-9P472-AB. Both have four wires. 2xwhite, grey and black. It is not obvious why these are different, other than the nearside needs a longer cable run. The latch plugs are the same design. Downstream of the catalysts, the sensors are the same both sides, with blue latch plugs. 2S7A9G-444BA, and again with four wires. 2xwhite, grey and black. You will probably have to source bespoke catalysts, and I'm looking now to get one for my GDi. Some exhaust specialists will offer this service.

Especially as I don’t know the answer to the question you posed, .

My cat started leaking around the pipe-to-cat weld at about 45k miles. Noticed as the exhaust note became rorty and if you held the back of the hand to it, you could feel the escaping gas. My wizard local garage welded it up very successfully. I guess other indicators of a failing cat would be on the emissions test during the annual MOT test. I have also known of the innards of a cat falling loose, blocking the exhaust with a corresponding extreme power loss.

The catalyst should be able to be regenerated if the ceramic honeycomb it is on is in one piece and you can buy cat cleaners. My T16 P4 kept breaking the weld but they can be repaired

I would be interested in knowing more about this as well. At my last service one of the comments was that one of the internal baffles had become loose. The rattle at low revs is annoying but doesn’t seem to have any effect on emissions, yet, MOT passed ok. Any idea if this is terminal or if not how long the Cat has left ? Also whether it may affect performance.

Librands used to do a "sports" cat for the roadster, might be worth a call.

Librands sports CAT pair are listed for Roadster 3.7 although no price given as seemingly to special order only.
