Hopefully that's a good sign in that the bodywork and chassis are in good condition, as that's a heavy bonnet. and the Vitesse/Heralds were notorious for rusting from new.

Well - I just cannot sell my mint, low mileage car! It won at a Concours comp and at a large classic car show recently....the cleanest - turn key car I have owned, yet time waster heaven! I am looking to sell this car to get into a Plus-Six. https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1879567
Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Nice, my Parents had a Triumph Herald when they got married. I always liked them. Most of the ones I have seen in Australia have painted bumpers which to me look terrible, chrome looks so much better.

I got MrsW a 2L Vitesse just like that one but white. The seller was a well dodgy grifter because it had a dodgy MOT. Calipers were odd. Only one was a Vitesse, and only two pads out of the four touched the discs. The chassis was rotten, but it lasted long enough to teach MrsW how to drive, after I fixed the brakes. This was 1977, so it was around ten years old, but totally shot. We hand painted it using Dulux brilliant white and it looked amazing from a distance.
When I sold it at the end of the MOT, someone turned up in a VItesse, walked round it once and said it was the worst Vitesse he had ever seen, and bought it on the spot to restore. I also got my £100 back.

Good man! So sort out the rear end, decent twin exhaust system and triple webers will do nicely. Well, whatever you do with it I hope you enjoy the ride.

It would appear that not all Classics are losing value at a rapid pace: Here is an MX5: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3266984585139k miles but at a price. It is my neighbour's car - I suspect he might end up keeping it ......

The MX5 is a brilliant little car but early cars suffer from rot and people who buy cheap often end up dumping a lot of money into sorting them (or just taking the car to a wrecker) Price seems a bit strong but not out of the question for anyone wanting a great base for the V6 project. When I last spoke to Bruce from Rocketeer, he had a nice waiting list and the struggle was to find decent donor cars.

- Dolomite Sprint..... ?! James Wouldnt go near one ! They were a reliability nightmare when new. The engine, jointly developed with SAAB, was badly made by Triumph but well made by SAAB. A pal had one as his company car and it was never out of the garage.
