Since Juli 2024 a lot 'safety' warnings/assistance are mandatory in the EU for newly registered vehicles and must be reactivated when the vehicle is restarted – even if they were previously deactivated.
Of course, as always, there are different assessments of these systems, and they work differently in many vehicles.

Dont want to start a Brexit debate but I do wonder why we dont exercise our new right to get rid of some of the most irritating EU nanny state stuff. Like the ever present cookie warnings which everyone just auto signs on to and which therefore is meaningless. Or these car "safety" features.

Moving in from there, one issue I found in the MX5 that I tried ( an almost new model) were the seats. Thanks to a bike accident, I have a dodgy hip and despite being reasonably slim I suffer with pressure from seat side bolsters to my hip bone. It was the reason that I sold the F type and it might prevent me getting an MX5.

So, can anyone recommend an upholstery company that can modify to suit a set of second hand seats if I buy an MX5. Might involve some welding to the frames as well as repadding and re covering.

Interestingly the Ferrari had the most comfortable car seats I have had since a Volvo S 60 in the last century.

Same thing that happened with California and US cars ... LA was a nightmare of smog due to geography and car-addiction ... CA legislation to solve one city's problem ended up dragging the whole country into it due to the size of their market and manufacturer convenience ... same with UK/EU ... not worth custom making cars for niche markets if you're one of the big-boys .. so we get what they get.

The problem is that it is not just a question of deleting a few lines of code. It means doubling the cost of regression testing at the module level and at the integration and system levels.

I wonder Paul. Maybe thats the software mans answer but when the interior sensor on my previous Merc failed and for some reason couldnt be replaced, , the main dealer had no issues about just deleting the function.

In the case of the lane assist it might be no more than disabling the camera. Either way, its trivial compared to fitting RHD

Instead of a Mazda why not buy a Donkervoort !?
When we were in Velden am Worthersee in Austria, 12 Ferrari (what’s plural ), a Bentley and a couple of other exotics rolled into town and parked at the smart Falkensteiner Schlosshotel opposite the lake.. They were all from Holland, The Netherlands or Dutch (you guys have so many names to go by) . All had tour decals on doors and bonnets - Unknown Destination Rally…….
The car that stole the show was the Donkervort by the attention it got . Think it was one of the dearer models !

Dread to think of the value of the iron or carbon fibre of those vehicles but no doubt after the front hotel parking open to all , they moved to the underground hotel parking for the night. This hotel seems to be used by a lot of classic car owners, including UK tours but probably not by The NL Garbage Rally.!?
