Peter, whilst your Morgan hosiery are quite fetching and a brilliantly creative application, I agree they might best be removed for date night! laugh2

Rubbing shoulders with the 1% here! .... I'd get another 4 or 5 years out of those socks! 😆

Short wearing and my plus 8 bumper always caused small but annoying , ankle, shin and calf ‘injuries’ . The old adage “ always put a sock on it “ was very true …….and a safety feature.

Awful lot of nonsense talked on these pages about greasing.

Only do mine once a year....and still get 40,000 miles out of a set of kingpins and bushes.

I was walking past the 4/4 in the garage the other day, not paying attention, and put a 3/4" gash in my shin. Blood streaming out, into my shoe, and on the floor. Luckily it didn't need a stich, just steri-strips. Those socks may have helped.

Cummon Arwyn - you need to spill the beans on this. Hard chrome pins? Gaters on rebound springs? Ultra sticky grease?

My car's been making a slightly musical "graunching" sound from the front on potholes/sleeping policemen since I got it about month/1500 miles ago. Kind of like that old sprung bed in your grandma's attic, though louder. I assumed this was normal but it has reduced substantially with the greasing. So the grease does seem to do something!

Use bike chain grease on the rear leaf springs as well. You will be surprised how it frees up the suspension

Adam12, Have a look through the main spring & see if you can see any tell tale rubbing. Mine seems to rub about 3/4 of the way up in the 8 o’clock position (12 o’clock straight ahead) & sounds like you describe. When I grease the king pins I apply a little spray grease to the area or Wd40. That stops the noise. As to why it rubs I have no idea as nothing visibly touches, but I can see that it does due the tell tale marks.

Many thanks for the tip John. Can this be done with the car on the ground? What is the technique -- just spray it along the side of the "stack" of leaf springs?
