^^ Nice tip that Colin, as fitting mesh can be a bit of a curse inducing time, especially when the lovely new paintwork is a bit soft

Agreed a good tip as offering it up requires 3 hands usually if the tabs aren't there

I did pretty much the same as Spanner Juggler except I used a inflatable kiddies football to "mould" the Lockwood supplied s/s etched mesh. You won't trim it to size with snips , i used a Dremmal . Well pleased its been in 6 years. I had enough as mesh left to make a bar by grill tray.

Should the car be jacked up or on a bridge to dismantle the radiator grille ?

Not absolutely necessary but it makes access easier if you do.

Best way to cut the stainless steel mesh is to use an angle grinder with 100mm diameter slitting disk. Smooth off sharp edges with a file.

A Dremel tool with metal cutting disc is handy for fine work like this. The discs don't last long but I buy them in packs of ten. I find things happen too quickly sometimes with my five inch angle grinder.

It‘s easy to fix. A you taste like you want to work.

Sitting in front of the car is possible.

Greats René

Tim, Librands are selling them on offer at the moment. They are not cheap though, as is nothing Morgan really!

I'd go with the real thing as when you acquire one you will see just how structurally sound they are, they are not easily misshapen!
You will have to micro adjust it to get a good fit for your car. Use a piece of hardwood with a saw slot cut into the end about 2" long and you can then slot it onto the grill and manipulate it into the correct shape.
Before you start trying to trial fix it wrap the whole outside edge in Duct tape this prevents the sharp edge wire scratching the paint! Rip the duct tape down the centre so its narrower and fold it over the edge, sticking it to itself between the wire ends. when finished and installing just pull the tape of the edges, comes of quite easily as long as the applied tape is only half width. Then enjoy! As far as I am aware the mesh inserts came about as road going cars got faster and tended to throw stones out like bullets, radiators started to get damaged so the mesh option was made available. remember a replacement rad is around £600! I have also been told that it was for showing race numbers on competing cars but I'm sure thats toot!

Just as an aside, make sure your insurance covers windscreen replacement full cost as that will set you back £2000 at a dealership. Insurers often put a max limit on screens and with an uninsured excess you can often only get about £250-ish towards the cost. Insurers who understand Morgan's are usually the best option here.

Has anyone seen or considered a radiator chin extension for a Roadster?
I don't know if this link will work; I thought it looked rather good.

Just my opinion, but when I spotted that ad I thought it's a shame to have added the "front chin extension" as Ledgerwood describe it. Reminds me of the grille of a car I've seen at a number of shows and which is not to my taste (sorry if the owner is someone on here)....
