Hello everyone. I found this forum while searching the web for 3W information. Hopefully you all will welcome me in.

My name is Jeff Bailey and I am the engineering manager for S&S Cycle and was the Project lead for the X-Wedge engine. Hopefully, I can contribute and answer your questions when possible.

As some of you who have driven the 3W, it is a great experience and the power spot on. There is more to the story than what the numbers may make you think. The X-Wedge engines have tremendous torque at low rpms, which match well with the vehicle.

There is no detuning going on. This video shows me driving a preproduction car S&S has here in the states. Spinning the tire is not a challenge.

As far as performance parts go, S&S offers many performance parts for the X-Wedge engine. There is no reason they couldn't be used on the 3W. To those of you who have sent questions into S&S about performance parts, I apologize for not responding, but the discussion of how performance work will be done between Morgan and S&S is still being worked out and hasn't been our highest priority. Morgan is rightly focusing on getting production going at this time and S&S is working on the certification for US.

Again, I will answer any questions I feel I can and I hope all of you will have a chance to drive a 3 wheeler soon if you haven't already.

Hi Jeff and welcome to TM.

A few of us are have or will be shortly taking delivery of our 3 wheelers so I'm sure you'll start getting some questions soon. Given that I'll start the ball rolling.

On your website you have a induction kit for the x wedge which I can only describe as v shaped with two cone type filters pointed in the direction of travel. Could this be fitted to the engine as mounted on the 3 wheeler, what effect would it, and can the filter assembly be rotated through 90 degrees so if formed a V in the same way the engine does.

I'll find he picture of the assembly when I have some time.

Hi Jeff,

As Asbo has said welcome to TM, I think your presence here will be a very useful addition to the 3W community.

I have already PM'd you, so this post is just to say that certainly my trike's power can be considered 'adequate' especially as the engine is very torquey, though no doubt as we become more used to 3-wheel sporting motoring we will all be looking for more power!

For now it is a question of getting used to the performance and the characteristics of a trike and to this end I am looking at doing a track-day with it. I also hope to post some driving impressions shortly.

PS is it bevel or straight cut?

Hmm, I have my reservations about the actual stuff (drum brake on the rear, weight of the thing, and most importantly: The longevity of the drive belt!), but I really don't doubt it's much fun and that I want one. I want it for travel, because I figure it's much more fun than standing on pegs six to ten hours at a time.

Does the quaife transfer box work, and work for a long time? Who knows, only time and the concerted testing and efforts of MMC and SSC will tell.

Welcome indeed, I believe there are three S+S dealers within 25 miles of my house! Air filter will probably be my first upgrade as well, I look forward to the time when those are the only decisions that I have left to make! I am sure many questions will come your way from me along the way.

To me, a companies willingness to come onto a forum and answer questions about their product being used in another companies product speaks wonders to business that they run.

To PJH question about flexing rims:
According to a Swedish Magaine testing on the racetrack at Anderstorp, together with the KTM X-bow and Mazda MX-5 the rims flexed and rubbed against the fenders at heavy cornering.
The back end was easy to steer to a moderate overstear with throttle control.

By the way - the Three-wheeler came out as number ONE in the test.
