The Baby Blue Plus Six was finally advertised as 'buy-it-now £51,000' - on eBay!

So advertise first for £57,495 and (then presume eventually sold?) for £51k and the car had done under 10k miles!

Do the plummeting CX prices mean that the gamble by the Italians to introduce a ‘modern Morgan’ have failed….??🤷🏼‍♂️

I don't think so. Plus Six has always had a bit of a problem in that for many drivers it's a bit overpowered, many of them seem to me to have been pranged in ways which might not have happened if the driver was in a Plus Four. As a result, I suspect obtaining affordable insurance is starting to be an issue.

For many purchasers, the Plus Four is bound to be a more attractive option being much more affordable, having plenty of usable power, and being much less likely to wrap you round a tree if you get it wrong.

The new Supersport doesn't appear to have a shortage of orders yet. As MMC move up-market the sales volumes are bound to drop, but providing they can maintain decent margins this could well be a good thing. Much better to build 500 cars a year that you can make a decent profit on than build 1000 cars which then bleed you out in warranty costs.

I think there have been times in the past when Morgan may have stretched its finite development and engineering resources too thinly, especially during a period of accelerating ever more exacting regulatory change in vehicle and emission standards. Maybe too many platforms and engine choices for such a small manufacturer.

I hope Morgan starts to focus on finessing it's current CX platform and running gear, with a view to increased reliability,and reduced exposure to warranty claims, increasing customer product satisfaction. Their true skill is not to assemble bought in components, but to focus on their real value adding hand crafting skills.in body forming and interiors. They proved this with the success of the Midsummer, and I believe such low volume hand crafted vehicles , working in partnership with recognised car design houses for limited editions on a relatively stable and reliable product platform may be the way forward.

I'm sure with it we will see over time step changes in the pricing of the cars, hopefully generating the resources to invest in those key areas as seen in the MY23 cars onwards. There may come a point were much of the Morgan product will be beyond the means of many here,with much lower production levels, hopefully it will help support residual values of existing models as the Morgan marque is taken further upmarket.

I also don't believe that the Italians' venture to create a modern Morgan has failed. On the opposite, it is Morgan's only chance of survival. What would the alternative have been?

Not in my experience, my P6 insurance is less than my Volvo EV insurance, and comparable to my previous Mercedes C-Class insurance. But then again my model does have the ESC fitted, if Insurers take any real note of that.

Does the fact that the auction closed mean that the car sold? It may still be available and now we know the bottom line.

Hi, no we don't know it sold - as the auction on eBay ended. However, with a day to run the owner, put a very polite notice up and said "anyone who has £51,000-can now purchase this car"

Obviously we don't know if it did sell??
