Love the look of the steering wheel although personally I would have gone for a three spoke so I could still see the rev counter.

I couldnt see the rev counter as good, cause off the smaller diameter, the rim was in the way with the previous 3- spoke steering wheel. Always had to move my head back or flatten the backrest thinking If you ask me, the rev counter is overated sherlock

I'm just a creature of habit, I can't start seeing more tongue2

Why not fit it as an X rather than a + ?

I love the 80th anniversary car Rex, When I was looking for the last car I bought I had the option of a green one, I'm not a fan of green cars, not because I don't like green, I actually love it but I have never had much luck with them! Someone once told me it was an unlucky colour and I swore never to have another one. Ludicrous I know!
When looking I found the 80th just a bit plain and uninspiring but over the years it has grown on me and it's elegant simplicity that you first see is in fact a stunningly made classic beauty which actually seems to have had the very best of the workforce making them! An example of not looking properly was the bonnet straps, I remember thinking" oh they could have done better there" but when you take the time to really look they are exquisitely made and fitted, follow the bonnet line perfectly and if straps were needed make the most functional sense. The dash.... :"bit dull and plain looking".... should have opened my eyes and seen the shear elegance of it! The car I was shown also had jenvey throttle bodies too, not sure if that was standard but don't think so!

I'm afraid I seem to be regressing back to the earlier models these days in that I now dribble over the 50's flat rads and TR engines with cycle guards, Something I would never have looked at in the past and I regret not buying that 80th anniversary car as it would have done a lot to have satisfied my nostalgic need for the older look yet giving that up to date reliability!

Fitted a Powerlite high-torque starter to the crossflow ... have one on the MG racer as the standard one was struggling to spin the high-compression motor ... spins faster and uses less current to do it so doesn't rob the coil when things are marginal ... just a bit of peace of mind.

Nice, I don't remember my cross flow manifold looking as free flowing as the one fitted on your car! I always remember having to get my manifold and exhaust welded as it used to crack just about anywhere and everywhere on a regular basis...

Was on it when I got the car so assumed it was standard ... however, the previous owner hillclimbed the car and I think the motor is slightly 'warmed'.... so could be an addition of his.

Definitely not the original manifold Keith, that looks a rather tasty tubular siamesed replacement. smile
I have a photo, somewhere, of my original '76.

I once cut a factory Crossflow tubular manifold open.

Absolutely awful fabrication work! Not very good pentration on some welds and too much on others!
