Richard, it just seems that the old Mog fits my past and still current pseudo vintage sports car ideals perfectly, in "reasonable" weather, and that it may be somewhat deficient in the silencing department plays a large part in the pure enjoyment of the drive... (-:

As ever increasing regulatory requirements induced Porsche to add a degree of digital and mechanical complexity to installing switchable flaps into their exhaust systems , not only that in terms of increasing aural stimulation, but also a system by which intake sounds are piped into the cabin, all in a bid to make the machine and perhaps the pilot to feel more alive...? That possibly being the case it seems my 991 is left gathering dust in the garage while the old +8 is the weapon of choice on a dry day, and even more so if the sun is shining...That it is somewhat lacking in the silencing department yet can whisper along the road disturbing no one, yet add a tad more pressure on the throttle, it becomes kinda obvious as to why some call it the loud pedal.... (-:

That my old +8 does not have the comfort, convenience, horse power, built in safety and of course maintenance issues and associated costs thus attached, my Morgan has to my way of thinking paid for it`s self over the years, in a way that my 991 never will... as the +8 too was not purchased as primary transport, but a possible back-up if push came to shove... Hmm..?

So home after a 17 day 2600 mile/4100kms jaunt through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Italy and France down through the Austrian Alps to Verona and home to Cambridge. Car behaved impeccably except for the scumbag in Beaune who tried to force open the tonneau cover and broke the zip. As you know I don't have a hood or sidescreens.
Crossing back from NW Italy into France was a challenge as both the Mt Blanc tunnel (an option as it was raining heavily) and Col de Petit St Bernard were shut for maintenance. So crossed into France over Col de Mt Cenis with fresh snow above.

Stephen888 the same thing happened to me in La Rochelle about 25yrs ago , car left in a car park one evening in the port area, just the tonneau cover on . in my case they pulled the edge of the cover off the fastener to gain entry and stole some plastic forks and a black bin bag, cost six pence, cost to repair tonneau £50.
toe rags .....
