Richard, as a long term Porsche fan, I ever considered the flat six as looking a tad like the innards of a washing machine. While the Williams version is tidy and no doubt technically about as good as it gets for the flat six, though an original Jag XK engine as it came out the factory with those twin alloy cam covers and black enamelled exhaust manifolds, takes some beating as a standard production unit....?

Many thanks for posting the pic of the modified Jag XK engine Richard, though to my eyes the original unmodified with polished rocker covers and shining black enamelled exhaust manifolds is the one that really impressed me as a youngster on seeing for the very first time the engineering marvel that lurked under the hood of a Jag....
