Seems to me that for many reasons which we have discussed in detail, that the "classic" car market seems to be in a state of flux, and feel really sorry for those who bought into any classic(s) relative to their imagined investment potential, perhaps even long term having played part in as possible pension planning, as that as an idea seems to be truly fluxed...???

Now we have the CX cars, the Aeros have become more niche. The V8 engine will find some buyers but the looks have always been marmite. I imagine that the £50k plus money will now go more CX, and even these don't get snapped up.

I don't remember what era was the last Classic car crash, but it may have been in the '90's. The volatile market is not driven by enthusiasts, it is driven by 'investors' who are fickle. They don't buy interesting cars to enjoy them as enthusiasts, and the secoind they see a whiff of market collapse, they sell, and they spook a few margins of enthusiasts, so you get over supply, which drags the price down further.

This is what's going on now, and the best enthusiast policy is to ignore it. And get on enthusing.........

If you consider depreciation on Aeros, they're doing OK at +/- 20% on an S5, in a soft market.

Violett has a lot of wood. I can always use her as a coffin. The colour fits the event. Meanwhile I enjoy her, until that moment. Sounds like a plan

I'd have one ahead of a Plus Four/Plus Six or a Supersport............🥳

But if I was wandering in to the showroom with £80 odd K burning a hole in my pocket.............🤯🤯🤯 ......They've got some fantastic and well priced stock to tempt.....
There's no way I would be leaving without a 911......🤷🏻‍♂️... which is the sensible, realistic choice......... no contest.......🤷🏻‍♂️

On the other hand..

Having cut my teeth on Brit sports cars from the 50`s-70`s I arrived at ownership of a rot box 912, such was the obvious engineering quality of the way it was put together, that my next Porsche was a 911 Carrera 3, which took me on into my second decade of Porsche ownership, and on to ownership of a 911 SC, So I guess as a hands-on kind of chap in terms of restoration repairs and maintenance, I had been seduced by the design and build quality and capabilities of Porsche 911`s.

All that typed when I thought it was time for a change for my recreational sports car, I was in search of a vintage driving experience, long story short, I ended up having spent circa 5 years on the then MSCC DG, eMog asking all the stupid questions of owners of both old and new Morgans, to the extent my thinking was that a Morgan seemed to represent something akin to shed built engineering, all be it in a larger than back garden sheds, when compared to the engineering which I well knew went into air cooled Porsches, in design, development and production.

Circa 2002 the purchase of an 80`s +8 whch had been the subject of a nut and bolt rebuild to a higher standard than that which on average the MMC seeme`d likely to turn out, was found to be the most wonderful and relatively simple machine, providing more than enough of vintage style and driving experiences I desired and more...and all during a time while Porsches had become water cooled and ever more digitally dependant, which was a direction ever further outside my comfort zone.

That being typed, circa 4 years back I returned to Porsche ownership in the form of a Porsche 991.1 C4S, which by my own standards of performance measurement is quite some bit of kit.

Having typed all that.. Strange as it seems, over the last year in reasonable weather, I have covered and enjoyed more miles on my occasional runs in the local (ish) area in my old +8, than I have in the 991. despite the advanced engineering, amazing roadholding and braking of the C4S .

For sure the Aero 8 in question has quite a bit of digital kit controlling aspects of it`s engine management etc. However I suspect it will still have the potential to appeal as a bit of a step back in time in terms of automobile engineering, and provide a more demanding driver experience than a modern Porsche when driven at road legal (ish) speeds in the UK, and in the sort of impressive style that any somewhat commonplace water-cooled Porsche might, given just how many Porsches are out there in recent decades, from Boxters through 4x4 family barges, and on to GT models...?

The Aero 8 in the advert looks to be stunner, as do most Aero`s, sure there is a potential price to owning such a rare and special machine, but even today mass produced Porsches have had their own share of issues since they altered the design of the flat six to become water cooled...?

I suspect driving the Aero 8 will likely cause any fortunate owner feel that bit more special, compared with driving a run of the mill Porsche..? If one does not feel a bit special when driving one`s choice of recreational sports car, then perhaps one may have made the wrong choice...Might as well drive a Tesla...? (-:

This dealer must have the dearest AM Vantage and 80’s 911 in the country - presume it’s the mileage on the Porsche pushing it to quarter of a mil but also making it unusable to keep the value up.

Strange how all the prices on their website end in 80.
