Good morning Richard, Gotcha. I was a little confused as the photographs appear to have the steering wheel already removed from the steering shaft. I have the 5mm socket ready. I’ll loosen that today and hopefully I can then gain access to the nut holding the wheel to the shaft. Richard
Good one Geoff! Some times you feel like a nut like now. After several hours of filing with a tiny file I got a nice D shaped 5mm socket that no mater what I tried wouldn’t fit. I was about to give up when I decided to try needle nose pliers. It came right out! Well it screwed out almost all the way out and then stopped. I am assuming that’s as far as it goes. Problem is, it gets me no where closer to removing the steering wheel. In the photographs on the instruction page it definitely shows the steering wheel off of the shaft. How do I get there??? I know I’m not the only person who has replaced this ugly steering wheel. What am I missing? Richard
Ok by backing out the grub screw you have successfully de-activated the mechanical trigger for air bag. I appreciate further illustrated instructions show the wheel removed but can you not see under flap a slide covering a bolt head which also needs to be backed out by following these copied instructions:
4. Slide back the protector that covers one of the bolts that holds the bag in place. Loosen the bolt. Note that the bolt cannot be fully removed. Remove the other two nuts. Do not let the bag fall. Carefully remove the bag assembly and put it in a safe place.

Finally! I got the job done. Here is what I encountered and I hope it will make it easier for the next person who wishes to replace the OEM steering wheel. For the life of me I can’t understand why Morgan would choose this ugly steering wheel. Air bags I’m guessing. Anyhow here is my experience and I hope it helps others. Day one I spent trying to make a 5mm socket shaped like a D. First I tried the dremmel tool. After exhausting all of my grinder bits I made a trip to Home Depot and bought a small file set $12 and spent a couple of hours filing. Eventually I got a nice D shaped socket. But no mater how much I filled, it wouldn’t turn the deactivation screw. As a last resort I took a pair of needle nose pliers and grabbed the D shaped end of the deactivation screw and 5 minutes later it was all the way unscrewed! Next slide the cover off of the nut on the back side. Since I wasn’t planning on ever using the steering wheel again, I jammed the slide cover out of the way. I couldn’t find any wrench I had that would connect. Even a quarter inch socket wrench. Next, I went to harbor freight and bought a set of offset metric wrenches $18. With a 13mm. I was able to get the bolt loose. I then removed the last 2 nuts from the back of the wheel exposing the nut that held the wheel on the shaft. The steering wheel came loose and I pulled it off. The new steering wheel went on without incident. The horn even works! Richard
