Perhaps a tad like others have typed, I am happy to feel part of the MSCC and JockMog, requiring me to be an MSCC member to be eligible to be a JockMog member, also happy enough to pay subs to both, by way of supporting whatever facilities they provide to the more active amongst the membership.

I did enjoy attending a few events in the past with my good lady, but for some years now I have been no more than an armchair member, and rarely even open the magazines, also have not attended or seem likely to attend any future events...But to have options opened to join in, if ever in the frame of mind to do so, works well enough for me.

By far the simplest and most convenient option to access Morgan chat, tec details and to cyber socialise, is TM, which helps keep the grey matter stimulated to some degree, and for which I am most grateful. Thanks Simon, and all others who provide all that they do...

I see the discussion on the MSCC Bulletin Board. I've been a member of the board since its inception, but I've only now discovered that you have to explicitly request membership to each forum. The "Members Chat" didn't exist when I joined so I've got over a year's worth to catch up with!

It appears that there were only 150 spaces available, so probably will sell out and be a success.

Restricted numbers and huge prices is a guaranteed way to keep the riff raff out.....

I’ve been looking at the hotels available, and would likely be spending around £1,200 for 3 nights B&B and the organised gala dinner etc. for two of us, one of whom isn’t the slightest bit interested in going, plus the cost of a couple of evening meals and lunches.

There’s an evening drive-in cinema planned at MMC, which could be fun if the weather holds, and if they choose the right film, but that’s quite an expensive trip to a movie I might not enjoy.

I’m still in two minds. Hopefully it will be sold out before I make a decision then I can spend the money on something I know SWMBO will enjoy!

Has anyone thought of a TM compound at the Goodwood revival? ... whether it's possible to book a chunk of camping and 'circle the waggons'? ... few Morgans ... few motorhomes ... get the BBQs out and a some beers ... at 800 quid and below depending on which/all days people chose to attend ... and that's 3 whole days filled with classic racing and all the associated razzamatazz, not mention the hundreds of drool-worthy cars in the car-park. Would certainly interest me more than a penguin-suit dinner! 🙂

Me too! I'm Errr.....out! I'd think most people like me, who have a classic plus 4 would find that unjustifiable, especially if its the two of you, just think how many nights away that would get you in the peak district etc. And if you have family commitments, well that's a prime consideration too isn't it!

I'm not a great attender of things but had expected to go to the 75th anniversary of the plus 4. It's my car of choice from the line up as is the classic range.

Surely this is an event where MMC are trying to show off just how great the plus 4 is, how long its been around and how loved it is//was by its owners. This is the most successful car of all the Morgans. If I was on the Morgan board I'd want the Hills to be covered with plus 4 Moggies.
Is this just another ill thought out event using their chosen accommodation vendors and stuff the rest of us, or yet another example of pricing it for their over indulged current super car customers who on the whole don't see a Morgan as anything other than a car to boost their ego's and collection! Come on! It should be just a load of Morgan plus 4 lovers gathering in a field and enjoying each others company and cars in Malvern.

I do wonder If they will get the attendance they think they will showing both a true reflection of owners and cars that will represent the plus 4. Most of us who own, run and enjoy a classic Morgan of whatever type or number feel, I am sure, that they are very privileged to have such an eclectic and quirky vehicle which gives so many different forms of pleasure. The first consideration for the majority of us in owning one is "can we afford it" "Can we justify having a toy which fulfils our life long desires in many cases". If this is a yes, then we are truly lucky. In this day and age I do not feel at all wealthy, but I do feel that we are very privileged to be comfortable, yet are still careful how we spend our money looking after our family. Even had I set my heart on attending this event I most certainly cold not justify doing so, to selfishly spend that amount and not include all the family. This makes me feel that this is yet another step in making the Morgan a car for the super car league with classic owners holding it up as the unseen foundations. Classic owners hold a direct line back to H.F.S. and yes we do have undesirable dirty fingernails.

The factory and the club are dancing to the same tune. It's not unsurprising, because the future, such as it turns out, is an expensive one, and certainly seems to sideline those with preferences on the period up to 2020.

Looking at the itinerary, it actually doesn't really appeal that much and I would far rather freelance by doing what we want to do. It would have made more sense to have the activities at the factory. The field is plenty big enough, and organise whatever based from there. Or alternatively at the showground.

It doesn't even appear that a "day ticket" would work with what's planned, so we won't be going.

They sell very fine sausages, lots of choice.

After reading Janns comments (she is the Chair 'man') on the Bulletin Board, I do have sympathy for the club. The only people who offered to run the event are a commercial outfit, and naturally they want/need to make a profit. At past events the entry fee from day visits went straight to the venue, so the only money to run the event came from the hotel based members. Hardly fair.

This event, because of its' unique nature, is always going to be sold out and if the organisation can be achieved by professionals ensuring that it goes well and doesn't tie up volunteers any more than they need to be, then why not?

I doubt I will be going, I can think of better things to do with my money.

With only 150 rooms available and no day tickets, there will only be 150 cars. Not a great turn out for a significant event. I like the idea of Goodwood Revival but I don't know the Duke so I can't suggest it.
