The Mulfab bearing will make a huge difference to Mogs pre-2006 with steering bearings. After that, Mogs using MMC steering bearings had a reduced castor angle, so replacing with Mulfab bearing doesn't make much difference. Although the Mulfab bearings are way better engineering.

I fitted a set of Mulfab steering bearings to my 1986 4/4 and found that (probably due to the steeper castor angle of earlier cars) it made the problem of steering shake/St Malvern's dance considerably worse. I even tried fitting a motorcycle steering damper to calm things down before admitting my mistake and reverting to the original setup with the damper blades. Many years later when I fitted the SSL front suspension system I still kept the damper blades and when correctly adjusted they work extremely well indeed. Nothing against the Mulfab bearings, they are splendid bits of kit, but not really designed for cars like mine. Of course, for later cars with a shallower castor angle, steering racks, a wider track and wider tyres none of this is relevant

From a very dull memory I think the first time I read of the idea of fitting a bearing as opposed to the damper was perhaps on eMog and it was John Shealy II an American who had perhaps thought of the idea initially ....? JHSII as he signed himself, seemingly did a lot to promote Morgans in the US over the years and drove a 3 wheeler across the width of the US, I think there was an article in Miscellany relating to his adventure. I think JHSII is another of those colourful Morganeers now sadly lost to the community...
