Happy birthday to my Plus 4. Ten years ago Mrs FT and myself picked up our brand new Plus 4 from Bell and Colville in Surrey and drove it back to Luton. Lots has happened in that ten years: retirement (both of us), Covid, moving to Suffolk, and getting a motorbike again have been particularly salient happenings. The Morgan has been with us throughout and I've become very attached to it. No modifications (yet), still just a standard car. If I'm honest it hasn't really cost a lot to run which has been a bonus. I'm a low mileage Morgan owner, most of our mileage being done in other vehicles - 19,000 to date although I'm doing a lot more now running around with the rather wonderful group of Morgan owners I found here in Suffolk. Tempted as I am by the CXs, I think the Plus 4 is a keeper as it does the job and holds a lot of memories and history now despite its young age. Sadly, the eponymous donor of my avatar, Amy Johnson the Fox Terrier, passed away last year ending that chapter in our lives but she did have a fabulous life and an easy end. I'll keep the name in her memory.

Yes time flies FT, Seems like yesterday my plus 4 was 10 years old, now we're at 15/16 but it still looks the same. It's true how attached to the car you become and it just shows how good your'e experience must have been as well. I like you am a low milage user and don't feel that I am not using it enough. I love all my interactions with the car especially looking after it. I also can't see me ever replacing it and it's as you said.... it does the job! I did toy with an ARP4 as it has the cosworth engine and reminds me of the beautiful engineering of cosworth from my time at Ford. But sentiment quickly forced it's way in and I've never been dissatisfied with my plus 4's performance and.... well it's my Morgan!

Love Fox Terriers by the way. My son had a girlfriend for a few years whose family had one and he used to come and stay with us, I really got to love him and still think of him often!

Contentment is a fabulous thing....
When you find the right thing/place/person....or whatever floats your boat, you've made it.......😁
We all seem to spend so much time chasing the next..... thing.... and never find happiness.....

Well done on 10 years of +4 ownership, I hope you have lots more....

I have always been sad each time I sold my Morgan cars but still manage to enjoy memories from their ownership.
Sewin - I picked up on your son’s ex girlfriend comment and your sadness at the loss of her dog ! I hope you missed the girlfriend to?!
We have had similar with our sons ‘long term’ girlfriends. My wife got really excited when he went out with a Spanish girl. Family came over to meet and she spent nights with Duolingo learning the language. They parted company, although we remain friends with her and her family . Spanish was replaced by Slovenian, not for a girlfriend but for our Slovenian friends ( who all speak English anyway but…. !)
Imagine her joy when a couple of years back, he brought home another Senoreta . My wife was hesitant and didn’t initially re start learning Spanish but as it’s been a few years now, Duolingo is back in bed with us…… a wedding is being planned and we hope to communicate with her parents but at least I know they have a dog. I hope the dog will understand our Spanglish

I think a tenth anniversary is known as the aluminium anniversary. Quite fitting for all that curvaceous bodywork and understandably a keeper.

My GDI Plus4 was also bought (allbeit preloved) from Bell & Colville, is now just over ten years old, much modified and is also a keeper. Must be something in the water 🤪

Congratulations, I really like your choice of colour, wheels, overriders etc. Just like I would have done if I went with a Morgan.

I did a 800km (500miles) drive on the weekend in my MGB with about 100 classic cars and had an absolute ball. If you had half the fun doing the 19,000miles then I know you have been enjoying it

Well yes the girlfriend was lovely and we got on well with her. They were an item right through university but that came to an end shortly after they finished! My son's fault really as like most young men he was careless with their relationship and I can't put any fault with her or her decision.
When they brought the dog with them my wife and I along with his younger sister walked him with our three dogs, fed him etc.so over the years we became attached to him. Like you Morganmike he's had a couple since and we have been far more reserved in creating a relationship with them. Perhaps he will find the one and then for us we can start to build a suitable relationship.

Well, I haven't been a Morgan owner quite that long (since 2017) and never had a new one, but boy have I got attached the 4/4 that made me bonded with the marque.

To the extent that I felt like I had been unfaithful to a significant other when I parked my newly purchased Roadster next to it in the garage. Gave it a pat and said "I still love you... it's me not you!" I definitely remember saying that to young ladies before I met the lovely Mrs Tykester. Like the girls, it's still going to get binned off (...the 4/4, NOT Mrs Tykester)!

As for furry family members, I feel your pain. One of our rescue cats who we had for 15 happy years passed away earlier in the summer. We have since taken on another whose previous owner died, was thrown out on the street by his landlord and was feral for a while, then in an outside pen at a rescue for 18 months, but is now a cosy house cat again. He's a miserable little ****er mind, but we feel like we have done the right thing. Also, he doesn't pee on my car cover when I leave the garage open like the deceased cat used to do, so there is that!

There are loads of lovely pooches who need a family if you feel able to manage a pet still...

Not a nice landlord.

My mum had a cat, the main reason she didn't want to move into a nursing home was the cat. Mum died two months ago and I now have her cat along with the three others so now 4. I am having to spread my love around and they are not getting on but they all deserve a home.
