For axle stands the front is easy - under the lower cross tubes each side. For the rear I would suggest under the ends of rear seat cross member forward of rear wheels.

Not shure if the factory fitted dampers are bad. But the rubbers in the fittingeyes are bad and this could cause a problem with the German MOT/TÜV. But with just new TÜV last month, he hasn‘t seen it. So in first sight no reason for a change.

But after some upgrades of dampers at my old Minis and my Harleys I noticed a big step forward in the quality of riding/driving.
So I want to go a step forward. After the fitting of brakereactionbars I was massive surprised about the difference. And now it‘s a little like open a christmas present. Would the new dampers also give a nice benefit?

My GDI came with standard Spax, and they were actually quite good. I now use Spax Krypton adjustables on my Roadster, which work well, on a soft setting.

If the long bolts and spacers are for the rear, the geometry as built is compromised, and the bushes take the strain. Fitting a spacer washer on the top bolt eases the conflict. Some bolts were fitted heads against the plywood panel, so will require carpentry to replace them.

Spax is a good move on the back end. I'm running between 4 and 6 clicks up from low. At 4 clicks solo I can actually the damper working and with my wife on board 6 is the sweet spot. Now I also have the magic bump stops fitted and these are progressive in function and this really works well for me.

Cain's upper mount fixings... Well I have them fitted as they do square up the shock mounting better, more noticeable when the suspension is compressed of course.

Avo shocks have suffered greatly from bush distortion and bushes breaking up. so perhaps that might help? I have noticed though that some earlier cars, and I think it possible that this may coincide with the change to the upgraded lower shock mount at the rear hub. had a significantly increased angle to the shock absorber and the mounting pins being in different planes would exacerbate this arc type movement. Perhaps someone knows the truth behind this and will post the facts!

Sorry, Forgot to say.... Rog who posts on here, makes and supplies the bump stops. They are about £150 and beautifully made and easy to fit. These along with Brake reaction bars are the two best upgrades I made to my car followed by seat risers to position the seat comfortably for my driving needs..... out of the factory it was pants and I could just about tolerate an hour behind the wheel before that. Just a completely different car!

Look at this for some tasty engineering (known as "spring assisters"). Easy to fit and really do make a difference

Yes, Roger's bump stops are the first mod necessary on a trad. Make a huge difference.

Now, after a 50 Miles testdrive: oh yes, it‘s a difference! Much smoother, all harsh beats are away!

After some ideas for the „Klicks“: here are 6Klicks and 12Klicks the point, one of my friends told me „14“, so I choose 13.
With two persons (about 150KG) I‘ll keep it.

Now: I think about bumpstops.

Rene treat yourself for christmas. You really will not regret it. If ever I change my trad for another....not likely... I would make sure I had another set before leaving them on the current car!

Yes, I think about this. But at first I must ask if there where some on the shelf or in production. But than I have very bad expierience with shipping from Britain to Germany (here thanks to DHL). At first my ECU was after the flash missing or on an odysee in the German custom. And, just this days I bought a British book. The book was 23GBP „all costs included“ than 29GBP. Shipping by Royal Mail and DHL with 7,50 EUR Service and about 2,50EUR „other costs“.

So, no pain, no fun. I‘ll think about it. Christmas isn‘t far.
