Yes, I'm also on the coast and the only road out is a tidal causeway. So rust prevention is essential. On my old motorbikes, which regularly do 3,000 miles+ a year, regular cleaning and ACF50 have kept the salty roads at bay. So, can be done.
I will look at the windscreen pillar bolt area. That might be one for some pre-warmed ACF50 drizzled in. I also treat chrome, such as light bezels, with ACF50 in the winter. Wipe on, leave for a day, then wipe off, seems to work OK and reduces the amount of dirt the ACF attracts.
Another area I've had trouble with in the past is stainless exhaust systems. The main parts are fine, but any welds will suffer from rust as will any bolts. A dose of ACF50 seems to do the trick here too, despite high temperatures.
Having restored one of the bikes and done rolling restorations on two old sports cars over the years, prevention is much, much easier than cure!
