Well the one I took a photo of is most certainly a Mazda MX-5 gearbox as fitted to the MX-5 sports car!

The box fitted in the Three Wheeler is the same as can be seen by this photo

I'm just curious, because on the threewheeler they write "MX 5-speed"?

Am I missing something?

The MX5 has two gearboxes. One a 5 speed on the 1.8 car and the 2.0 ltr base model and the other a six speed on the 2.0ltr sport tech and the paddle shift automatic.

So they use a new gearbox since the beginning of the year in the 4/4.
Do the gear ratios stay the same as last year's when I did the testdrive?
Especially 5th gear: Is it still "just an overdrive"?

The 5th gear ratio is different. The ratio was 0.76:1 on the old box and as far as I can see from the attached figures...which relate to the Australian market MX-5 but probably the same as the European spec, they are different. Interesting that they also use a 4.1:1 final drive ratio on some models.

The top gear speeds per revs is interesting too.
